Atletico Madrid host local rivals Real Madrid in the first leg of the round of 16 tie in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 8pm GMT. Live coverage of the game will be available on Sky Sports 5 and Sky Sports 5 HD.

Overview

Atletico Madrid will look to replicate their league result from September against Real Madrid as they take on their arch rivals in a bid to add to their tally of 10 Copa del Rey titles. Fernando Torres, who made his much anticipated return to his boyhood club is expected to make his first start in an Atletico jersey since moving to Liverpool in 2006.

It was an emotional moment for the Spaniard, who has found life hard after moving to Chelsea, where he was struggling for form. Atletico are currently third on the table, level on points with Barcelona and only one point behind Real, who have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Real's 22 game winning streak came to an end against Valencia as they lost 2-1 at the Mestalla Stadium, thus culminating a run which started in September following their loss to Atletico Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti's men will be hoping that history doesn't repeat itself and the European Champions can take some advantage back home for the second leg.

What managers say

Diego Simeone: "They had a very intense match the other day. They come off the back of winning the World Cup and I always expect them to match the high quality of their players. Their level is such that it meant they went an incredible amount of games unbeaten and they have a fantastic manager. I expect a tough opponent.".

Carlo Ancelotti: "Our approach to the game will be the same as always: we'll try to play to our philosophy, with intensity and quality, so as to be better than our opponents. Each side has its own idea of football and there'll be no change in that respect. They will play a focused, intense game. And we will too. The team that does its job better out on the field will win."
