In their previous Bundesliga fixture last Saturday, Leverkusen lost 2-1 to Schalke at home. Despite holding a majority of possession throughout the game, they failed to utilise it to their advantage.

Leon Goretzka scored a goal in the first-half for the away side. In the second-half, Felipe Santana put the ball past his own goalkeeper to gift the home team an equaliser before Klaas-Jan Huntelaar netted the winner to leave Leverkusen empty handed.

After playing 21 matches in the Bundesliga, Leverkusen sit second in the table with 43 points, one more than third placed Dortmund and 16 points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich.

After 25 matches played in the Ligue 1, PSG steered five points clear of second placed Monaco at the top of the table with 58 points following their 3-0 victory against Valenciennes at the Parc des Princes.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic slammed the home side's second goal of the game in the second-half after Ezequiel Lavezzi had given the reigning French champions a 1-0 lead in the first-half. The home side registered a third goal in the 52nd minute after Gary Kagelmacher turned the Argentinean's cross into his own net.

PSG topped Group C with 13 points to book their place among the last 16 teams of the competition. And Laurent Blanc will be hoping that his squad can take a significant advantage to France before the second leg next month.

What Managers Say

Sami Hyypia: "Paris have spent a lot of money in recent years and built a very good team. They have a lot of individual quality and we'll have to be at our absolute best to get a good result. We have to give 100% in every department. If Paris underestimate us because of recent results, that would be good for us, but I can't influence that. We have to focus on our own game."

Laurent Blanc: "You can feel a Champions League atmosphere among the team. They are looking forward to a match in a wonderful stadium with an excellent pitch. They know how important this game is. We have to be on our toes from ever free-kick and corner because they can be very dangerous from set pieces. We will try and dominate the match by taking care of the ball. It's the same pressure that accompanies any other game – everyone expects us to win."
