Borussia Dortmund are planning a bid for Arsenal prodigy Serge Gnabry, according to the Bild.

The report states that Dortmund have watched the exciting youngster several times this season and were particularly impressed after he played a brilliant part in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup. Only 18, the German has already made it to the Arsenal first team and has already scored his first league goal against Swansea earlier this season.

However, the Germany Under-19 international is contracted to the Gunners till 2018 and will need a large bid from Dortmund to convince Arsene Wenger to think about letting one of his best players leave the Emirates.

With Theo Walcott out for the season, Gnabry is likely to be presented with a lot of first team opportunities which should make his position stronger in north London. Gnabry has three Germans to keep him company at Arsenal, with Mexut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski completing a quartet of prodigous talent at the Emirates.

Arsenal are currently top of the table, one point ahead of Manchester City and two ahead of Chelsea with 20 games played thus far in the season.

The Gunners will be boosted by the return of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who has returned after a long lay-off with a knee injury. The midfielder is ecstatic by his recovery and wants to make it to the World Cup in Brazil later this year.

"As a young guy growing up watching football and watching World Cups, this will be my first one [that I can play in]. Obviously I went to the Euros, which was an amazing experience - and that's a massive achievement for me personally, especially as an 18-year-old boy. That was really special," he told www.arsenal.com

"But the World Cup is always that little bit more special because it's the world stage. If I was able to be selected and go to Brazil it would be a dream come true and something that I'm definitely striving towards," he concluded.
