A 2-1 victory over Venezuela despite Neymar's absence helped Brazil top Group C of the Copa America. It also helped them seal the place in the last eight of the tournament. After the 7-1 defeat to Germany in the World Cup semi final, followed by a 3-0 loss to the Netherlands for a third place finish, Brazil have won 12 of the 13 matches played so far.

Their defeat came against Colombia in the second group stage match against Colombia. The same fixture saw Neymar receive a red card after the match, which ultimately lead to his four match suspension.
