Thief Steals Jewels Worth 40 Million Euros in Cannes Heist
An armed thief has stolen jewels worth approximately 40 million euros (£35m) from an exhibition in Cannes on the French Riviera.
Officials say that the robbery took place in broad daylight on Sunday morning at the city's Carlton Hotel on the city's Croisette promenade, which is lined with expensive hotels, shops and restaurants.
The French Riviera has long been a holiday destination popular with the wealthy and famous. Every year, Cannes holds a film festival that attracts Hollywood stars and celebrities from around the world.
