Manuel Pellegrini believes that Sergio Aguero is the best striker in the Premier League after the Manchester City number nine led his side to an impressive 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (16 April). Meanwhile, the Chilean has hailed the completed performance of his side to secure three crucial points in their bid to secure a Champions League spot ahead of next season.

Aguero's 19, 20 and 21 goals of the season saw the Argentinian moving level with Jamie Vardy and only one behind top scored Harry Kane. Pellegrini has questioned that his striker has ever been selected for the Player of the Year award while both the Leicester City star and the Tottenham number nine are in the shortlist of candidates.

"Sergio makes the difference when he's playing every game, every week. He is a very important player," Pellegrini said in the press conference "I am sure he is the best striker in this league."

The Chilean manager, meanwhile, claimed that the victory also enabled his side to get their revenge for the FA Cup elimination against the Blues.

"I'm very satisfied. The team played very well in attack and defence," he said. "We knew before the game it would be difficult here but we also wanted revenge for the FA Cup game that we had to play a young team, and they beat us."

The win, the third consecutive in the Premier League for Pellegrini's side, leaves them third in the table, four points above Manchester United and one above Arsenal, who will play against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The boss added said: "It was a complete game and a very important three points in the Premier League because we want to finish as near to the top of the table as we can."
