Chelsea attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne met with Atletico Madrid´s representatives last Wednesday to seal a loan move to Diego Simeone's side in the next transfer window, according to reports in Spain.

Atletico Madrid are desperate to sign a playmaker after last summer failing to secure the services of Wolfsburg´s Diego Rivas. The Brazilian midfielder was Simeone's first choice for the January transfer window but as they cannot afford him attention turned to De Bruyne.

Spanish newspaper Daily AS claimed the 22 year old was in Madrid last Wednesday after manager Jose Mourinho gave him permission to go on loan in January in order to gain more regular game time. One Atletico representative met with De Bruyne to show their interest ant try to convince the player to play at Vicente Calderon until the end of the season.

De Bruyne was sent out on loan at Werder Bremen last season and was a regular in the first team but at Chelsea he has started only four matches under Mourinho.

The Belgium international is willing to move to Madrid in order to play more before next year's World Cup finals in Brazil and recently compatriot and teammate Eden Hazard advised him to leave Chelsea.

However, the West London team are considering other options like Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus because they are not sure De Bruyne will play regularly at Atletico. Furthermore, the Belgian has already played in the Champions League for Chelsea this season so he would be unavailable to Atletico in the European tournament.

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have a strong relationship with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois currently on loan at Vicente Calderon for the third consecutive season.
