Danny Thomas, also known as Danny Tommo, has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage with intent to endanger life, a day after he was filmed slashing a dinghy in the English Channel.

Ally and former associate, Tommy Robinson, shared a video of the arrest, where Thomas was filming and asking the officers to allow him to say goodbye to his children. He was arrested at a petrol station. There is no word yet on where he is currently in custody.

Arrest Follows Alleged Reckless Endangerment

The video starts with the person filming, believed to be Thomas, getting out of his vehicle. The vehicle he was in was cornered by unmarked police cars. 'Yeah, okay. Okay,' Thomas was heard saying.

'If I could just, can I speak to my kids, but I'm trying to say goodbye to my kids. Just a nice little bit,' he asked an approaching officer.

'I've got information to suggest that you've been involved in some damage,' the officer said, while Thomas continued to plead to be able to speak to his children. The officer then informed Thomas of the reason for the arrest: criminal damage and recklessly endangering someone's life. Thomas was seemingly placed in handcuffs as the footage turns to black.

The Migrant Boat Incident

Police said they were investigating a video showing Thomas slashing an inflatable boat with a knife in the English Channel. The dinghy had been carrying nearly 60 migrants who reportedly boarded it from Normandy.

RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) crews assisted the migrants after their prolonged journey across the Channel and facilitated their transfer to a UK Border Force vessel, which would, in turn, take them to Dover for processing.

RNLI have been at the other end of anti-immigration criticisms for rescuing people in small boats. But as the institution said: 'This is what they have done for over 200 years.'

'The men, women and children who find themselves in distress and sinking in one of the world's busiest shipping lanes are no exception. Our crews will go to their aid today when tasked, just like generations of lifeboat crews have done before them, in wartime and peace,' RNLI said on its website.

Thomas had been live streaming the boat transfer of the migrants and making commentaries. The video then showed him sailing up to the boat with a small knife and slashing the side while a French rescue operative boarded it.

'Right, you are on English territory. This is England. This is not France anymore,' Thomas yelled while continuing to stab the boat. 'Get off! Get off! You've got time to get off the boat.'

'Getting Out of Hand'

Thomas said the situation is getting out of hand. Following the incident on the English Channel, he shared his thoughts: 'It's now happening consistently where they're now traveling from different places in France... There's no stopping them and they're allowed to get on these vessels, travel huge distances.'

Thomas did not address the slashing incident but said: 'So, I think, the pressure worked in some respects yesterday... The politicians really need to really understand... this is getting out of hand and they really need to... do something about it.'

He added: 'Like I said, everything needs to remain calm, peaceful, non-violent and that's the only way you really win any of this.'
