Drake and Dennis Graham
Drake's father Dennis Graham is launching his own music career Instagram

Drake's musical genes clearly run in the family. The One Dance rapper will have to take the backseat as his father, Dennis Graham, launches his own music career by releasing the long-awaited music video for his single, Kinda Crazy.

Far from the theatrics of Drake's videos like Hotline Bling, Graham's Kinda Crazy visuals are a much mellower affair complete with smoke machines and the smooth R'n'B jam providing the soundtrack. Graham, believed to be in his 60s, is seen enjoying a dinner date with a couple of beautiful, young women before another, described as "Sweden's hottest", catches his eye.

With his pick of the ladies, the aspiring singer later indulges in their company while swigging a glass of whiskey. Interspersed with the romantic scenes are shots of Graham sitting in a throne fit for a king and dancing with smoke billowing around the candlelit room, a throwback to 1980s soul.

The visuals, directed by Nikeisha Andersson, debuted at a release party hosted in California on 28 July with Snoop Dogg among the VIP guests, although it is not known if Drake attended to support his father. The launch proved to be a success as Graham is now selling merchandise t-shirts and ties with 'Kinda Crazy' and his face printed on the front.

It has taken almost a year for the video to drop after Graham initially released a teaser in August 2016. However, the singer cancelled the release party due to poor sales of the single and slammed his friends for failing to support his musical ventures.

In an Instagram post, Graham wrote: "I will be deleting all my so called friends on Instagram who hasn't purchased my 1.29 Kinda Crazy single how cheap can friends be have a nice life!!!!!!! As of midnight tonight you will be a faded memory, you know who you are, and you can also see that all you a******s that are making what you think are funny comments has been blocked."

While some of Graham's friends may be less than supportive, the music video has received a warm response from fans. One commented: "This is beautiful.... it has an old school R&B vibe with new school 808's," while another said: "We need more soulful music like this. Great work."

It may seem as though Graham is profiting off Drake's incredible success, but he aspired for a music career even before his son was born. In an interview with Billboard earlier in 2017, Graham said: "He did what I always thought I would do. I always thought that I would be that big star, and I never made it. But Drake did it and I felt like, by him doing it, I had made it."

Drake is yet to publicly approve of his father's musical efforts but the rapper does star alongside Graham in a new advert for Virginia Black whiskey, which uses Kinda Crazy as the soundtrack.
