The first practice sessions of the 2015 season mirrored those of 2014 with the Mercedes stamping their authority over the other teams. Nico Rosberg and his teammate Lewis Hamilton dominated both the sessions to underline their dominance of the rest of the field yet again.

Nico Rosberg and Mercedes continued from where they let off last season, by dominating FP1 and FP2, and he was followed by teammate Lewis Hamilton, who finished second in both the sessions.
The Mercedes duo have made it clear to their rivals that they still hold an advantage over the rest of the field as the closest to Rosberg's time was Sebastian Vettel in third place, but the Ferrari driver was .715s behind.
Kimi Raikkonen was in fourth place but over a second behind the leader with Valtteri Bottas in fifth place. The Williams team did not have the best starts as Felipe Massa's car suffered a water leak and failed to leave the garage in the second practice session.
Red Bull Racing's Daniil Kvyat was in sixth place, but the other Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo also failed to complete any laps in the second session due to an engine change.
The Lotus team, who have shifted constructor to Mercedes for the 2015 season, have improved compared to last season as both their cars finished in the top 10.
