Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze's brilliant goal in the extra time of the 2014 Fifa World Cup final saw Germany register a 1-0 victory over Argentina at Estadio Maracana, Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

Joachim Low's side were flawless throughout the tournament as they started the campaign with a 4-0 crushing victory over Portugal in their opening game. In the semi-final of the World Cup, Germany crushed host nation Brazil 7-1 to make it to the finals.

Germany has dominated the recently concluded World Cup, where they conceded only four goals – out of which two of them came during their 2-2 draw against Ghana.

The victory against Lionel Messi's Argentina saw the European nation seal their fourth World Cup trophy. Germany are now level with Italy in second place, one less than record holders, Brazil.

The Premier League players were quick to take on social networking sites to congratulate the German team on Twitter. Below are a few tweets from the players.
