The nominees for the 56th annual Grammy Awards were announced during The Grammy Nominations Concert Live! television event.

American rapper Jay Z earned nine nominations including nods for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Album and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar and Justin Timberlake have seven nominations each, while Drake picked up five. Country crooner Taylor Swift has four nominations, including Album of the Year, for Red and New Zealand singer Lorde is nominated for Best Record and Best Song.

During the event, hosted by LL Cool J, there was also musical treat from Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Robin Thicke with T.I. and Earth, Wind & Fire, Lorde, and Keith Urban with Miguel.

The award ceremony will be held on 26 January and will be aired live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The full Grammy nominations list is available on the show's website. A partial list of nominees is below.
