Local boy and crowd favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will open his French Open campaign against Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff on 24 May. The world number seven is not in the best of state coming into this clash. An adductor injury forced him to withdraw from the Rome Masters two weeks back and fears are he has not yet recovered from it.

Tsonga has had a poor 2016 so far. In fact, his best run has been reaching the semi-final of the Monte Carlo Masters. A two-time French Open semi-finalist, Tsonga is the crowds big hope and while he does produce entertaining tennis, there is the feeling that he is just not consistent enough particularly when facing top class opposition.

Once ranked 46 in the world, it has been a downward slide for Jan-Lennard Struff in recent times. Currently ranked 101, the problem with Struff is that he lacks consistency and that is what has hurt him. He definitely is the underdog coming into this clash and is unlikely to shock the world number seven.
