The Kolkata Knight Riders welcome the Delhi Daredevils to Eden Gardens on Sunday (10 April) for the second match of the 9th edition of the Indian Premier League. The Shahrukh Khan-owned team are one of three teams who have won the tournament on two occasions and are aiming to become the first team to win it thrice.

The Knight Riders have a settled line-up after retaining the core of their team during the player auctions and will be boosted by the ICC's recent clearance for Sunil Narine to bowl, after he was called up for suspect action. They also have a good pace attack in Morne Morkel, Andre Russel and Umesh Kumar Yadav, while the batting seems balanced with Gautham Gambhir leading the way and Manish Pandey, Robin Uthappa and Colin Munro providing able backup.

The Delhi Daredevils, on the other hand, will be looking for a fresh start after a disastrous last couple of seasons when they finished at the bottom of the league table in 2015, while taking the 7th place out of eight teams in 2014. They managed to win just seven games in the last two seasons and they will be looking to improve this campaign.

Zaheer Khan has been appointed the captain with Paddy Upton taking over the coaching duties, but their biggest coup could be the appointment of Rahul Dravid as the team mentor. The Daredevils are also likely to be reliant on their overseas contingent, especially J P Duminy, Imran Tahir, Quinton de Kock and Carlos Brathwaite.
