23:00: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSED

So that's that and in all in all a rather horrible day. Arsenal, Fulham, Crystal Palace have all been busy but we await news about the success of Liverpool's pursuit of Yevhen Konoplyanka. We'll have all the news about the deals that have completed past the deadline and those that didn't make it. Until tomorrow's Premier league coverage, goodbye.

22:53: A fourth striker in at QPR today:

22:51: Less than 10 minutes to go. Will feel like the longest period of time, EVER.

22:45: The Ross McCormack saga appears to be over, for now.

22:41: Blackool chairman Karl Oyston on Tom Ince's move to Crystal Palace: "We were open minded and then we moved towards wanted a permanent deal. It looks like it won't happen that way. The player wants to go on loan. Transfer windows are a bit mad and various matters of them are pointless. I won't be surprised if there is a last minute hitch."

He also confirms Stephen Dobbie will be coming the other way from Palace.

22:37: Roberto Martinez speaking on Sky Sports News. Very much content with his squad and wishes his best to John Heitinga who moves to Fulham.

22:32: Another confirmed deal:

22:27: This sums it all up:

22:24: It's fizzling out kids, if this day was ever truely alight. It's been a shocker hasn't it? Maybe Konoplyanka will help us out, or maybe he will assist in this deadline lurching into total farce.

22:13: Harry Redknapp strikes again...

22:01: Less than an hour of the window remaining. Thank goodness.

21:57: Fulham have had a good few days in the transfer window and after cancelling the loan deal with Adel Taarabt, they have offloade Phillipe Senderos to Valencia. One hell of a coup. Would therefore suggest a deal for John Heitinga is close.

21:41: Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish says permanent deals have been completed for Jason Puncheon and Wayne Hennessey

21:39: Update from the one big deal on deadline day and that is that Yevhen Konplyanka is to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Liverpool, according to Sky Sports News, after being ordered to return to Dnipro. A deal has seemingly been agreed.

21:35: And Chelsea have confirmed Gael Kakuta will join Lazio until the end of the season.

21:30: Monaco confirm signing of Dimitar Berbatov from Fulham....

21:25: Forgive the lack of updates but there has been something of a lull in updates as we enter the last two hours of the window. Still awaiting news on Liverpool's attempts to sign Yevhen Konoplyanka.

21:15: Yohan Cabaye is currently making his debut for Paris Saint Germain in their game against Bordeaux for those Newcastle United who want to throw more things at the wall.

Stoke chairman Peter Coates says Jonathan Pitroipa remains a target in the final two hours of deadline day.

21:02: Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that Scott Dann has joined Crystal Palace to strenghtern The Eagles' relegation battle.

21:00: An update on Liverpool's pursuit of Yevhen Konoplyanka. After a deal appeared to have stalled, the Ukraine international's agent says a move is becoming a distant dream.

"The player was happy with the move but there is no agreement between the clubs," agent Oliver Cabrera told The Daily Mail.

"[Dnipro president] Ihor Kolomoyskyi doesn't want to sell the player. I don't think it's a question about money, Mr Kolomoyskyi has money enough. I don't think there are going to be any changes."

20:51: Full story as Ross McCormack's future is thrown into doubt by Brian McDermott's sacking at Leeds United.

20:45: Leeds are still to confirm the sacking of Brian McDermott, but the 52 year old has wasted little time praising supporters. "From the bottom of my heart, thanks to each and every Leeds United fan for your support," he told BBC Radio Leeds.

News on McCormack, his advisors have had six enquiries from clubs since he gave that controversial interview on Sky Sports News so it appears his days at Leeds are numbered.

20:36: And on Tom Carroll's future at Queens Park Rangers.....

20:32: Latest on Joleon Lescott's Manchester City future:

20:24: That interview on Sky Sports News can be found here.

20:23: Would be an understatement to suggest that Ross McCormack wants out at Leeds. Though you feel for McCormack, who committed himself to Leeds following a bid from Cardiff because of McDermott's sacking, should he be giving such interviews when it looks likely he will be forced to stay at Elland Road? Bit naiive but clearly he is hoping to force a move through.

20:13: Ross McCormack confirms on Sky Sports News that Brian McDermott has been sacked by Leeds United. His future is very uncertain even with less than three hours of the window to go.

20:09: Manchester United have loaned out another player in Federico Macheda, who joins Birmingham City. It must be said however, that the sacking of McDermott have overshadowed the final hours of the window.

20:05:

19:55: This will fuel the midnight oil.....

19:47: Some non-transfer news reaching us suggesting that Leeds United have sacked Brian McDermott. Real turmoil in south Yorkshire after Massimo Cellino completed a majority takeover at Elland Road.

19:39: Full story as Arsenal sign Kim Kallstrom on loan.

19:36: Arsenal confirm the signing of Kim Kallstrom on loan until the end of the season. More to come....

19:33: Cardiff City have missed out on Ross McCormack but they are now focused on signing Reading striker Adam Le Fondre, according to Sky Sports. Hat-tricks in each of his last two home games for Le Fondre, including against Bolton in mid-week.

19:28: Leigh Griffiths' return to the Scottish Premiership, following his loan spell at Hibernian last season, is iminent with personal terms having been agreed ahead of his move to Celtic from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Real month of change in the black country this month. As many as 15 players have come and gone and more are expected.

19:24: Plenty of subtext accompanies that rumoured deal for Emnes, given that Swansea manager Michael Laudrup and chairman Huw Jenkins fell out over the signing of the forward in the summer. Would be an interesting about-turn from the Dane. To allow the deal to go through, Middlesbrough are looking to bring in Danny Graham and Graham Dorrans.

19:10: Cat among the pigeons here...

19:08: So, we're on the home straight. Less than four hours to go and still a number of deals still to be completed. The biggest of which revolves around Liverpool's pursuit of Yevhen Konoplyanka. Arsenal are expected to conclude a deal for Kim Kallstrom before the deadline though the club's hopes of signing a striker are dwindling.

Elsewhere, Fulham are buying everyone in sight, including Konstantinos Mitroglou from Olympiakos. Crystal Palace have been busy also but a move for Tom Ince has yet to be agreed. Sunderland's business is over though, with Lee Cattermole remaining at the club.

I'll be honest, despite the above, it's hardly all go. Go to the pub.

18:58: A seventh Manchester United player has left the club on loan on deadline day. Tom Lawrence will join Yeovil Town after the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Will Keane departed the club earlier in the day. No news of any incomings at Old Trafford however.

18:54: As time goes on, the less-likely that Liverpoool's pursuit of Yevhen Konoplyanka will be successful. Talks have reportedly been held over the past two days but Dnipro have apparantly rejected the Reds' valuation of the Ukrainian international. Brendan Rodgers looking at a late deal to get that one done

18:46: Leeds United fans can rest easy, top scorer Ross McCormack will remain at Elland Road. "I am really happy at Leeds and look forward to staying at the club & playing under Brian McDermott," the Scot told Sky Sports News.

18:43: More news from Sunderland.....

18:38: Lee Cattermole will remain at Sunderland. The Blacks Cats, who have signed Liam Bridcutt from Brighton on deadline day, have decided against selling the tenacious midfielder despite reports emerging that a fee had been agreed with Stoke City. The 25 year old has left the Sunderland training ground and his future looks like it will reman in the north east.

6:28pm: Those infamous 'Sky Sources' suggest Kim Kallstrom has completed his medical with Arsenal and an announcement is expected imminently.

6:23pm: Osvaldo's move to the Bianconeri sees him join Carlos Tevez, Fernando Llorente, Fabio Quagliarella and Mirko Vucinic in Antonio Conte's array of strikers. Could the latter two push for a move away in the remaining houra? There's no shortage of clubs after strikers...

6:17pm: Ciao, Dani. It was mental while it lasted.

Osvaldo è un giocatore della #Juventus http://t.co/RfP5JtbhqP benvenuto, @danistone25! pic.twitter.com/aRFPIaHnRm

— JuventusFC (@juventusfc) January 31, 2014

6:15pm: Juventus also have the option to purchase the volatile striker on a permanent deal this summer.

6:10pm: Dani Osvaldo has completed his return to Serie A, Southampton have confirmed, with the striker joining the Serie A champions on loan until the end of the season.

6:02pm: Porto players have been all the rage this month and another name to be linked with a move to the Premier League has been Nicolas Otamendi. The Argentine was heavily linked with a move to both Liverpool and Manchester United but is now on the brink of a loan move to Valencia, O Jogo report.

5:53pm: We are enduring a bit of a lull with five hours remaining before the window closes. A deal of the magnitude of Ozil to Arsenal, Carroll to Liverpool or Berbatov to Manchester United would be greatly appreciated at this point in time. Sort it out lads.

5:46pm: All signs point to Liverpool's move for Konplyanka collapsing. After his agent suggested Dnipro aren't satisfied with Liverpool's offer, latest reports suggest the player is currently in the process of getting a work permit - but only to ensure he can represent Dnipro in the Europa League against Tottenham next month.

5:40pm: Crystal Palace fans; still no sign of confirmation regarding the Tom Ince move. The club's sporting director Iain Moody told the Evening Standard:

"It's still in the balance. Ultimately we can't control what Blackpool want to do - Oyston is the man who has the whole deal in his hands. If we get to 10 o'clock and nothing is decided then he will be left with a choice of not keeping Tom or letting him come to us for a good chunk of money."

5:35pm: Southampton bad boy Dani Osvaldo has reportedly completed his medical with Juventus ahead of his loan switch to the Bianconeri.

5:30pm: Sky Sports now reporting Stoke City have agreed a fee with Sunderland en route to complete a medical with the Potters.

5:24pm: Arsenal's search for another foward continues; RMC suggest the Gunners have had a bid turned down for former Chelsea man Salomon Kalou.

RMC understands that Arsenal have had an approach rejected by Lille for Salomon Kalou: http://t.co/Nt5MeyhiuW #AFC #LOSC #GFFNDDay

5:17pm: Rene Muelensteen's is channelling his inner Harry Redknapp today. Having added Lewis Holtby and Konstantinos Mitroglo today, Press Association Sport understands that Fulham are hoping to bring in at least three more players before the deadline. Manchester United duo Ryan Tunnicliffe and Larnell Cole are in talks over a move to west London, as is forgotten Everton man John Heitinga.

5:12pm: Crystal Palace are still hoping to push through a deal for Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley after having a bid accepted for the Welshman, while the Eagles are still waiting to learn if they can seal a deal for Tim Ince after Stoke rocked the boat by lodging a late bid for the winger.

5:07pm: Sam Allardyce has already signed up two more recruits despite telling us he was done in the January market, he wouldn't go back on his word for a third time, would he? Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur claims the Hammers looked into bringing Genk forward Jelle Vossen to the club.

5:01pm: Six hours left before the window closes and Manchester City's double signing that was meant to illuminate the final stage of the transfer period is seemingly off after the club failed to agree a fee with Porto for Mangala and Fernando. Liverpool's move for Yevhen Konoplyanka appears to have been derailed by Dnipro's resistance while Arsenal's move for Kim Kallstrom has all gone quiet for now.

4:49pm: Where West Ham United failed Cardiff City have, erm, failed too as Leeds United reject a £4m bid from the Welsh club for Ross McCormack, Sky Sports News report.

4:45pm: As it stands, Tottenham, Southampton, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are yet to add to their squads this month. For Southampton and Spurs it is likely to remain that way, but the other three remain in the hunt.

4:39pm: Reports in the French media suggest West Ham United's move for former Leeds United star Max Gradel is now dead in the water. Charlton Athletic however have been linked with a late move for the Ivory Coast international.

4:35pm: Questions remain over the future of Tottenham winger Nacer Chadli after his agent indicated the midfielder wants to leave the club this month. Swansea were credited with interest in the Belgian earlier today and his agent has since confirmed a move away from White Hart Lane is still a possibility.

Swansea is interesting because he could play number 10 but Nacer would prefer to stay with Tottenham. There are a lot of clubs who want him on loan, in Germany, Holland, Belgium. Olympiakos have also said they are interested. He has only been playing at this level for few months and if he can stay at Spurs I'm sure he will become somebody."

4:32pm: Sport Mediaset report that Chelsea's misfit winger Gael Kakuta is on the verge of signing for Lazio.

4:29pm: That mystery fourth bid for Norwich's Wes Hoolahan? It came from West Brom.

4:25pm: BBC Sport now suggest Manchester City's move for Porto duo Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando is now off, until the summer at least.

4:21pm: Bad news for Liverpool fans, the proposed move for Yevhen Konoplyanka seems to have fallen by the wayside. The winger's agent told Goal.com:

"We have a very good relationship with the president [Ihor] Kolomoyskyi and he doesn't want to sell the player."

"Yehven and his father respect that so a move is very unlikely."

4:15pm: Cardiff City clinch a deal for gold medallist Anthony Joshua! Hang on, that's not right. The heavyweight is just visiting at the club ahead of Saturday's Reloaded event in the city.

Not quite a #deadlineday deal, but good to see @AnthonyFJoshua at #CardiffCity ahead of Sat's #Reloaded fight. pic.twitter.com/ZUByxNaZPq

— Cardiff City FC (@CardiffCityFC) January 31, 2014

4:10pm: Manchester United have allowed a host of youngsters to leave the club today. Will Keane could become the 47th striker to join Queens Park Rangers this week, while Tom Thorpe and Tyler Blackett has joined Birmingham City until the end of the season.

4:04pm: Lots of talk about a possible Manchester United exit this week for Luis Nani, but one club who are no longer in the running is Sporting. The club who produced the Portuguese international are not able to afford the 27-year-old's lofty wage packet.

4:00pm: Let's step away from deadline day for a moment to bring some breaking news regarding Tottenham Hotspur. Danny Rose has successfully won his appeal against the red card he was shown in his side's 5-1 defeat to Manchester City last Wednesday.

3:57pm: And Napoli have since confirmed that move. Pablo Amero will be a West Ham United player until the end of the season.

3:54pm: Reports suggest West Ham have added another new signing after Sam Allardyce declared their transfer business officially done with earlier this week. Napoli defender Pablo Amero has reportedly joined the Hammers until the end of the season.

3:50pm: Lee Cattermole's prospective move to Stoke City is picking up pace. Is it a risk for Gus Poyet to offload the midfielder to a relegation rival?

3:40pm: An unnamed Premier League have lodged a fourth bid for Norwoch City's Wes Hoolahan. Aston Villa have relentlessly pursued the Irishman thus far but who else could have entered the fray?

3:33pm: More from Brendan Rodgers on Liverpool's pursuit of Yevhen Konoplyanka.

"There is obviously an interest in the player.

"We'll see how it unfolds and the staff that are over there are giving us every chance to get the player and we need to see how that goes.

"It has happened very quickly. The timeline makes so but we've got a list of a number of players and we'll see how it all develops."

3:29pm: The Greek international, was a certainty to line up against Manchester United in the last 16 tie of the Champions League next month, has netted 16 goals in 17 Greek Super League appearances. Will his presence be enough to help Fulham distance themselves from the drop zone?

3:26pm: Fulham has sealed a deal for Olympiakos striker Konstantinos Mitroglou for a reported fee of £12.5m, fending off West Ham's last ditch attempt to hijack the deal.

3:20pm: Brendan Rodgers addressed the club's 'complicated ' pursuit of Konoplyanka in his press conference this afternoon.

3:07pm: Developments on Tom Ince's future; Sky Sports report that Stoke City have approached Blackpool with an offer of a permanent deal, but the player himself is only keen on a loan move, an agreement have in place with the England Under-21 international.

3:04:pm: No news as of yet in regard to Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando's potential moves to Manchester City. Manuel Pellegrini said:

For the moment - sorry - no news, but I promise tomorrow you will know all about it.

Business maybe, a lot of business - but no news.

3:01pm: Arsenal fans; still waiting for the latest on Kim Kallstrom? Settle down and check out Vanessa Keller's breakdown on the Swede here.

2:56pm: Swansea City are in talks to bring Tottenham midfielder Nacer Chadli to the Liberty Stadium. The Belgian was keen to leave the club at the start of the month before having a change of heart. But it appears an exit could be on the cards again.

2:52pm: After Manchester United splashed out on a helicopter to fly Juan Mata in, Manchester City are looking to trump their nieghbours by ferrying in Porto duo Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando by private jet, Manchester Evening News report.

2:48pm: Marca report that Atletico Madrid are interested in bringing Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell on loan until the end of the season. Diego Simeone's side are also on the verge of securing a deal for Brazilian midfielder Diego from Schalke.

2:43pm: The latest reports on Arsenal's attempts to sign Kim Kallstrom suggest the midfielder is undergoing a medical ahead of a loan move. The Swede's current club are reportedly keen to get the former Lyon stalwart off their wage bill, according to the Mirror.

2:40pm: Liverpool have been closely linked with a number of players today and it's hardly a secret that their priority remains Yevhen Konoplyanka. But just to be sure, Brendan Rodgers ruled out the possibilty of signing Micah Richards on loan. Good to know.

2:35pm: Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis must have a lot on his plate thia afternoon. Technical coach David Kemp was on press duty this afternoon and here's what he has had to say about the possible arrival of Tom Ince.

2:30pm: As confirmed earlier, Emmanuel Frimpong has joined Championship side Barnsley on a six month deal. Here's what he's had to say about the move.

"He (Danny Wilson) called me yesterday and wanted me to come play and help the team push out the relegation zone. Hopefully I can help the team achieve that this season.

"I wouldn't say I'm fit yet, but the only way to do so is to play games. The more I play, the better I'll get." [via Barnsley's official website.]

2:26:pm: Despite rumours suggesting Tim Sherwood was keen to recall Jake Livermore from his loan move at Hull City, the Tigers have confirmed the midfielder is set to remain at the KC Stadium for the rest of the campaign.

2:20pm: Liverpool have seemingly hit a wall in their efforts to sign Dnipro winger Yehven Konoplyanka. The Ukrainian's agent has revealed talks are still underway with Dnipro determined to hold onto their man, despite the player being keen on the move. Speaking to Goal.com his agent Oliver Cabrera said:

"We are still working but the problems aren't coming from the player. "The club don't want to sell him at the moment.

"We aren't sure about whether we will find a solution but we are working."

2:16pm: Fulham are keen this afternoon, aren't they? The Cottagers have returned to Swansea with a second offer for Neil Taylor.

2:13:pm: How accurate were we with our review of the transfer landscape on Thursday? A lot can happen in 24 hours.

2:08pm: It wouldn't be transfer deadline day without Salomon Kalou being linked with a return to the Premier League. The Mirror suggest the former Chelsea man is another name being considered by Arsene Wenger, but the Lille forward was quick to play down a move back to England earlier this month.

"I'm happy here. Why change clubs mid-season," Kalou told French newspaper Le Parisien.

"We started well and I would like to continue until the end. We have a state of mind which I will not find anywhere else. But then, in football, you can never predict anything."

2:03pm: Wayne Hennessey has made the move to Crystal Palace from Wolverhampton for a fee of around £3m. He spent 10 years with Wolves and the keeper will now ply his trade in the Premier League once more.

2:00pm: Jamie Carragher has his say on Liverpool's transfer business on Sky Sports here. on Yavhen Konoplyanka he explained:

I think it's essenital that Liverpool get him in the fact that they missed Salah, they missed players in the summer and I think it's important they get this one over the line.

1:53pm: Back over to Old Trafford where David Moyes insists there will be no incoming players - and the outgoings look to continue. Will Keane could be on the way out on a loan spell while TuttoMercatoWeb are claiming that AC Milan are asking after Luis Nani. The clean out at Manchester United continues...

1:48pm: Emmanuel Primpong has sent a goodbye tweet to Arsenal as the #DENCH one begins his new life at Barnsley.

AFC thank you for the memories thanks for the support thanks for the Love.I wish the team wins the league this year.Forever will be in my ❤️

1:43pm: The Mirror are claiming that so far Arsenal currently look like they will only confirm Kim Kallstrom on loan before 11:00pm hits. The side asked Real Madrid over the availability of Alvaro Morata but the club didn't want to loan him. And they're still waiting for an answer from Barcelona over Cristian Tello.

1:38pm: Quick update from Manuel Pellegrini: "For the moment, there is no transfer news. There may be business but I have no news at the moment."

Manchester City are currently linked with Porto pair Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando.

1:31pm: More pain for Newcastle as the side have reportedly had a bid rejected for Filip Djuricic. Times sport reporter Dincan Castle tweeted:

Benfica say they have rejected approach from Newcastle for Filip Djuricic. Not interested in selling. #SLB #NUFC #SER

The side are seriously running out of time and it looks like they're getting desperate. They've already been rejected in their pursuit of Clement Grenier. Time to get Joe Kinnear on the phone to all those managers he's great friends with!!

1:26pm: Here's the lowdown on all the details of Lewis Holtby's move from Tottenham to Fulham with the move possibly set to be made permanent, though he could still head to Germany in the summer.

While Tottenham players are leaving Tim Sherwood has reportedly said in his latest press conference that there is a 0% chance of Spurs signing anyone today. This is normally the day for the north London side to be at the frontline on transfers... did Daniel Levy miss his alarm perhaps??

Here's what Sherwood had to say today:

Lewis Holtby's certainly one that I sanctioned to leave the club. I think he's got a Tottenham future. I can' see him not playing regular football in the Fulham side and we look forward to welcoming him back in the summer.

Berbatov? No. I like him and think he's a very good player, but we've got strikers here who can do a very good job. I don't think there's any mileage in Konoplayanka.

Zero chance (of any more signings). Very relaxed. It's not always the way, just to buy players. We need to put things together, like a jigsaw here, and I've got real trust in the players that we've got.

1:19pm: Another deal confirmed and Fabio is on his way from Manchester United to Cardiff. He'll be joining Wilfried Zaha though he's been let go permanently by David Moyes. The official United Twitter announced:

Fabio has joined Cardiff City in a permanent move and Wilfried Zaha's loan to the same club has now been finalised. We wish them well. #mufc

Fabio

1:11pm: For a half-time update on transfers going through today check out this by our trusty colleague Tony Mogan. Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has reportedly mocked Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood's assertion that Manchester City are the best team on the planet. "Maybe, for Tottenham manager, the planet is England," he said in reply. Looks like Mourinho's starting a feud with yet another manager - here's five of his best bust-ups here (if you're looking for a small break from transfer news)

1:06pm: Everton have confirmed the signing of Czech Republic goalkeeper Jindrich Stanek from Sparta Prague. A statement on the club website reads:

An Under-19 international, Stanek is yet to make a senior appearance at club level, though he was an unused substitute earlier this season for games against Slovan Liberac, FK Teplice and Sigma Olomouc in the Czech top-flight.

The acquisition of Stanek further strengthens the Club's goalkeeping department, which is currently stocked with senior professionals Tim Howard and Joel Robles, along with youngsters Mateusz Taudul, Mason Springthorpe and Russell Griffiths.

1:03pm: Jose Mourinho is insisting once again that Chelsea are closed for transfer business after the club confirmed a deal for Kurt Zouma.

Zouma is the last one of the transfer window. In almost every position we now have the present and also the future.

But that's it. No more. None. Nobody is going out. The squad is short.

Is he really finished? Or is this another white lie from the Portuguese tactician?

1:00pm: More loan exits confirmed in the north-east with Sunderland announcing Duncan Watmore has joined Hibs until the summer. Having played just once for the Black Cats since his move to the club last summer the 19 year old will now have a chance to prove himself. The club have also sent Modibo Diakite out to Fiorentina.

12:57pm: Here's the latest on some of Arsenal's other targets with the club believed to be making enquiries over Miroslav Klose or Alvaro Morata. Read the details of that here. Could Gunners fans be in for more than one signing today?

12:53pm: Liverpool's move to secure Yevhen Konoplyanka is still ticking away and the side are believed to be mapping out the final details of the deal with him still in the Ukraine. This means that any reports circulating that he's on the plane to England are incorrect, for now anyway.

12:39pm: Great news for Chelsea fans: The club have confirmed the signing of Kurt Zouma from St Etienne. The Blues confirmed on their website:

Chelsea Football Club has today (Friday) signed Kurt Zouma from St. Etienne. He will remain on loan at the French club for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old central defender has joined Chelsea on a five-and-a-half year contract. This season he has made 12 league appearances for France's fourth-placed side.

The 6ft 2in Zouma is a French Under-21 international. He was born in Lyon and joined St. Etienne as a 15-year-old in 2009, turning professional in 2011. In total he has made 52 league appearances for 'Les Verts' and scored four goals.

The news, along with the arrival of Nemanja Matic, surely spells the end of David Luiz's time with the club. But a summer exit looks more likely for the Brazilian.

12:35pm: A deal has been confirmed by Arsenal! Not the one you might have been hoping for though. Emmanuel Frimpong will leave the club for Barnsley with his contract with the Championship side lasting until the end of the season.

Emmanuel Frimpong

12:30pm: David Moyes is giving his press conference at Old Trafford and the manager has made it clear that loan exits will be the only action taking place for the club today.

You can stand your cameras down at the gate today. I don't think they will be required. We've done our business and we'll get on with it.

It's certainly been very quiet on the rumour front for United today, and fans might not be so depressed about that considering they broke their transfer reord to snare one of Chelsea's best players at the beginning of the week.

12:27pm: Kim Kallstrom is at the Emirates as we speak having a medical and agreeing terms on a loan deal until the end of the season. He could possibly play on Sunday against Crystal Palace.

12:21pm: Lewis Holtby's agent says his move to Fulham could become permanent, telling reporters:

Fulham is a very well run club with an excellent manager Rene Meulensteen. The system and philosophy how Fulham play fits well with Lewis. He will play games in his favourite position. Then we'll see how things are in the summer. A move to the Bundesliga was shattered by circumstances we couldn't control.

Here's a pic of Holtby at Craven Cottage from Fulham's official Twitter account:

Lewis Holtby

12:16pm: Sky Sports are reporting that Ivan Ramis has failed his medical at Crystal Palace. The centre back had been hoping to secure a move from Wigan.

Ivan Ramis
Ivan Ramis

12:12pm: Kim Kallstrom to Arsenal - now there's a rumour I never thought I'd be writing about today. And his father is equally perplexed by the interest. He said:

I know nothing about it (an approach from Arsenal.) Last time I talked to him he was in Abu Dhabi with Spartak Moscow.

More details on that here.

12:06pm: Over the pond and Adel Taraabt has confirmed a loan move from QPR to AC Milan. It's certainly a curious move by the Serie A club who will need to get a handle of his attitude issues if they are hoping for an immediate impact. In an interview on the club website he said: "I feel very happy and I'm so proud to be here. I'm an attacking player, I don't know [Mario] Balotelli personally but I know him because he played in Premier League."

12:01pm: Well it's midday folks and it's been a busy morning for most of the big clubs. Tottenham said goodbye to Lewis Holtby for the rest of the season as the midfielder secured a loan move to Fulham. Arsene Wenger confirmed Arsenal are looking to sign a midfielder - and are 80% of the way towards doing so. Chelsea are reportedly looking at signing Zouma. And Manchester United farewelled Wilfried Zaha as he finally confirmed his loan move to Cardiff. Lots of movements still in store for the afternoon!

11:57am: Fulham's loan move for Lewis Holtby has been officially completed. The Germany international will be happy with that, particularly with the World Cup just months away and no promises of regular game time at Tottenham.

11:40am: Some transfer news from Newcastle. While they have made a decent sum from the sale of Yohan Cabaye, the side are believed to be struggling in their attempts to sign a replacement for the standout midfielder. Lyon's Clement Grenier, at the top of Alan Pardew's wishlist, has snubbed attention from the side and you can read all about what his agent had to say here.

11:30am: The Julian Draxler deal to Arsenal looks to be well and truly off. It was always going to be an uphill battle for Arsene Wenger with the youngster hoping for stability in the lead-up to the World Cup, but the manager has confirmed it's not happening today.

The Draxler situation has been created by the newspapers, not by me. You ask me 'what is the situation?' I say nothing is happening on that front.

11:19am: The Guardian are reporting that Dimitar Berbatov is currently en route to Monaco, meaning the deal for him to head to Tottenham is off - or was never really concrete in the first place. Meanwhile the Holtby move is believed to be a loan and will likely be announced very soon.

11:16am: This has to be my favourite rumour so far today - that Andros Townsend might be on his way to Manchester United today. If so he's putting up a brilliant front of being relaxed at home on Twitter, saying:

Happy transfer deadline day guys! Haha And Merry Christmas to Jim White #hisfavouritedayoftheyear

Here's all the details of this unlikely rumour here.

11:07pm: Looks like Pablo Osvaldo is out of Southampton permanently, with the striker currently undergoing a medical at Juventus.

11:03am: It's just not deadline day without a little bit of action from Harry Redknapp right? The QPR manager is believed to be close to tying down a deal for Fulham's Aaron Hughes as the side look to maintain their chase for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

10:48am: Liverpool fans will have to sit tight on Yevhen Konoplyanka with a source telling the Mirror: "Some of the complications are unbelievable." But the paper insists that Brendan Rodgers is desperate to make at least one addition today.

10:40am: West Ham have been linked with a move for Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott but coach Neil McDonald insists there's nothing happening at this stage, saying:

Joleon Lescott is Manchester City's player and, until that changes, I cannot comment.

10:37am: And it's finally done - Wilfried Zaha is a Cardiff player until the end of the season.

10:30am: It appears that Arsene Wenger is turning his attentions elsewhere after Julian Draxler's fee proved too high for him to meet. The side are now reportedly pursuing Spartak Moscow midfielder Kim Kallstrom if Twitter trends are anything to go by. Oh, and the Daily Mail here.

10:27am: Sky Sports are reporting that Lewis Holtby is training with Fulham at present in the hope of the deal being sealed for at least a loan move. Does this mean the Berbatov rumours are gaining momentum too? Stay tuned.

10:24am: Good news for Manchester United fans as Javier Hernandez's agent clarifies his future with the club. The striker has received limited game time under David Moyes but it doesn't look like he's leaving this month. Check out the details here

10:16am: Wilfried Zaha has posted a picture on instagram in a Cardiff kit. Since when have players posted moves on Instagram? This social media programme is for pretty sunsets and hipster food pics. Not football transfers!!!

10:12am: Looks like Jose Mourinho wasn't entirely honest when he said Chelsea wouldn't be doing any more transfer business in this window! The Blues have reportedly agreed terms with Saint Etienne defender Kurt Zouma but will loan the 19-year-old back to his club until the end of the season. Check out the latest on this here.

10:08am: Small Berbatov update - easyodds.com have the striker at 6/4 to make a move back to Tottenham today, and while speculation has recently suggested he might go to Arsenal, Monaco are ahead in the betting stakes at 4/5.

10:04am: Another done deal - Sunderland have confirmed the signing of Brighton midfielder Liam Bridcutt.

10:01am: Sky Sports are reporting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed the loan signings of Wilfried Zaha and Fabio from Manchester United.

9:55am: Remember this day three years ago? Luis Suarez had just arrived on the scene at Liverpool and Fernando Torres and Andy Carroll made deadline day moves that would go down in history as two of the most expensive, and ultimately disappointing, moves in the Premier League. The 2011 transfer window holds the record for the highest expenditure by English teams in that month, with £225m being spent over the course of the winter transfer window.

9:48am: First signing of the day confirmed! Newcastle United's Curtis Good will go to Dundee United on loan until the end of the season. "Curtis comes to us highly recommended and from a well respected club," Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara said. "He is left-footed and can play as either a central defender or left back. These are areas that require cover and it was important this was addressed during the window."

9:46am: Wenger has also claimed he's 80% of the way towards making a signing today. This would suggest he's pretty close, as the Arsenal manager often holds his cards very close to his chest.

9:26am: Arsene Wenger is currently speaking at his weekly press conference and the manager admits that Arsenal are looking to bring someone in before 11pm.

We are still trying to bring one body in because of Ramsey's setback and Flamini's suspension.

He's also ruled Aaron Ramsey out of action for Arsenal for up to six weeks. Will the manager relent and agree to take Draxler? Metro meanwhile are claiming he wants German striker Miroslav Klose. Could be a busy day at the Emirates.

9:22am: All appears quiet on the Chelsea front at present. The last word from Jose Mourinho was that after landing Mohamed Salah the side are finished for January, but could be forced into a scrap for Luke Shaw should United make a serious bid for the 18-year-old.

9:18am: Gary Neville has had his say on whether Yevhen Konoplyanka will fit in at Liverpool, with the England coach having seen the Ukrainian's skills first hand during World Cup qualification.

He's quick, plays on the counter well, he's got a fantastic shot, he can beat a man, he's a big talent. The question is how he'll travel and whether he can bring that talent over with him.

Check out the full comment on Sky Sports here.

9:15am: Stoke are believed to be readying a £4m bid for Sunderland midfilder Lee Cattermole. You can read up on the report from the Telegraph here.

9:08am: Could this be the curveball transfer rumour of the day? The Sun claim that Manchester United are weighing up a move for Tottenham's Andros Townsend. Now that would be interesting...

9:01am: Another player looking likely to leave Tottenham soon besides Lewis Holtby is Etienne Capoue, who received limited game time under Andre Villas-Boas and doesn't look to be in Tim Sherwood's plans at all. L'Equipe have gone as far as to claim that the incoming manager isn't even aware of the Frenchman's best position.

Napoli are in for his signature though and have so far had a €10m bid rejected. Will they get the deal over the line in time? Capoue is particularly hopeful it goes through.

8:58am: In other United news Fabio and Wilfried Zaha are believed to be in the final stages of agreeing a loan move to Cardiff as David Moyes continues to put his own stamp on the squad. Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to be looking at Lazio defender Michael Ciani and Burnley forward Danny Ings.

8:54am: Rio Ferdinand has just tweeted:

#TransferDeadlineDay my phones hot!!! I'm listening, watching, reading all day to keep up to date with all the news/gossip!!

The United defender is out of contract at the end of the season but is believed to be in talks over a new deal with the club, so it's likely that the gossip today won't be involving him. Though it could be about some younger compeition coming into the fray...

8:50am: Some more Arsenal transfer news: striker Mirko Vucinic is staying in Juventus according to his agent. Draxler isn't the only name being linked with the north London club, and the Mirror are reporting that Wenger is looking to conclude a loan for one of Cristian Tello and Alvaro Morata. Enquiries are believed to have been made for both.

8:44am: One name that has cropped up a lot this month has been Tom Ince, with the former Liverpool man reportedly looking for a move to the Premier League after spending the last two and a half seasons at Blackpool. The latest is that he's going to secure a loan move to Crystal Palace which will involve a fee of £1m. It could finally be the winger's chance to prove himself in England's top flight.

8:35am: West Ham are believed to be tying up a deal for Napoli's Pablo Armero. The defender would give the side more options after Joey O'Brien's season dislocated his shoulder against Chelsea. The deal would be a loan and would be a big boost for a side currently in the relegation zone.

8:27am: Everton are believed to have signed Czech keeper Jindrich Stanek, 17, from Sparta Prague, according to Tony Barrett from The Times. Roberto Martinez is also looking for a midfielder on loan. The Toffees are taking full advantage of the ability to loan players with Romelu Lukaku proving to be a genius move by Martinez in the summer.

8:22am: Is it going to be a quiet day for Manchester United? The club have already broken their transfer record to seal Juan Mata for £37.1m, and David Moyes has hinted at more signings. The club are believed to be chasing Luke Shaw but the latest is that he's not interested in a January move to United and would rather wait until the summer to go to Chelsea. Can Moyes tempt him into changing his mind over the next 15 hours or so?

8:17am: Liverpool's pursuit of Yevhen Konoplyanka came about after the club lost out to Chelsea in a bid to land Egypt international and Basel star Mohamed Salah. Brendan Rodgers is keen to increase his options up front and believes reinforcements are vital to ensure Liverpool finish in the top four. But is Konoplyanka the right target or a panic buy from the manager? This is Anfield gives the lowdown on the Ukrainian here.

8:10pm: Arsenal fans will be keen to hear the latest on the Julian Draxler situation, and despite Arsene Wenger continually denying a deal is close for the German youngster it would appear the club are in talks with the manager apparently coming close to agreeing a £37m fee.

John Cross, a journalist well connected with Arsenal, has explained the ins and outs for the Gunners on deadline day and why Wenger is so guarded when it comes to divulging information on incoming players. Check out his piece here.

Witll the manager relent and agree to pay the sky-high price? The latest on that is here.

8:03am: One rumour which has been doing the rounds in recent days is that Dimitar Berbatov might be set for a move to Tottenham. You'll remember Berbatov produced one of the all-time deadline day sagas by forcing a move away from Spurs to Manchester United in the summer of 2008, thanks to a very determined Sir Alex Ferguson.

Now the striker, who left United for Fulham in 2012, is believed to want a move back to a top club and could be part of a swap deal involving Lewis Holtby. All the lastest on that is here.

7:56am: Let's take a look at some of the biggest stories to come out early this morning as we get underway.
