Liverpool are reportedly preparing a bid to lure Fulham wonder kid Patrick Roberts to Anfield.

According to Goal, the Reds are looking to put in a bid as they want to beat other Premier League clubs interested in signing the young winger.

Roberts is considered to be one of the brightest talents in English football and Liverpool are willing to loan him back to the west London club after they make the signing official.

The Merseyside club have been keeping tabs on the youngster for over a year and were keen on signing him before he penned his first professional contract, which he did earlier this year after his 17th birthday. The young winger is now contracted to Fulham till the summer of 2016.

However, Liverpool are not the only side interested in the England youth international, as rivals Manchester United are also keen on bringing the winger to Old Trafford. Manchester United also made a move before the youngster signed his professional contract.

But Roberts has remained with Fulham and signed up for the next two years. Now it will take a formal and a much more substantial bid from an interested club to let the Championship club to part with their prized possession.

Brendan Rodgers' team will have an advantage in their pursuit after it was revealed that he is a boyhood Liverpool fan and his parents are from Merseyside.

The 17-year-old winger, who can also play as a second striker, played a key role in Fulham's run to the FA Youth Cup final and these performances earned him his league debut with the first-team at the end of last season.

The young prodigy has starred for England at youth levels and this season Roberts is expected to play a major role in the Cottagers push for instant promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.
