Liverpool are set to sign Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno by the end of next week, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Reds have reportedly made an offer worth £20m which includes £15m in cash and midfielder Suso, who is making his way out of Anfield after failing to make the first team last season.

Brendan Rodgers has been given the green light to talk to the defender and is looking to conclude a deal with the Spaniard before the World Cup.

The left-back position has been a major worry for Rodgers, with Jose Enrique unable to overcome a knee problem which kept him out for a major part of last season.

Moreno, who has been called up for the World Cup owing to his brilliant performances with Sevilla, will give Liverpool some much needed stability at the back, something they were missing last season. The Reds conceded 51 goals in the season which eventually cost them the title.

It will be a major coup for Rodgers with the player being rated as among the best full-backs in Spain.

The Reds are also close to securing a deal with Southampton for Ricky Lambert, who will give them a different option upfront in the absence of Daniel Sturridge or Luis Suarez.

The Merseyside club also need to strengthen their squad with European football around the corner and playing week in and week out with the same team may prove a major hindrance.

Liverpool are also pursuing a move for Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren from Southampton to strengthen their defence and also add a bit of creativity midfield.

Lallana has had a brilliant season for the Reds, scoring nine goals and assisting six and made his way into the PFA Team of the Year.

Lovren has been a rock in defence for the Saints and slot in brilliantly beside Martin Skrtel giving them some much needed solidity.
