Liverpool target Piotr Zielinski is desperate to complete a move to Anfield having rejected the opportunity to sign for Serie A giants Napoli.

According to Press Association Sport, Liverpool have made an offer of £9.5m ($13.5m) for the Poland international midfielder. The 21-year-old previously revealed he has already spoken to Reds boss Jurgen Klopp and appears keen to play under the German coach.

Zielinski spent last season on loan at Empoli from Udinese, impressing during the Serie A campaign and drawing the attention of league runners-up Napoli.

Napoli were hopeful the attraction of Champions League football would be enough to lure the player to the Stadio San Paolo. Club president Aurelio de Laurentiis revealed his side have agreed a fee for the player, but now accepts the midfielder has his heart set on a move to Merseyside.

"I negotiated for Zielinski with the Pozzo family [Udinese's owners] and we finalised every detail," De Laurentiis was quoted as saying by Corriere dello Sport.

"Instead, it now seems as if the player is doing everything possible to resist the move and not come here. He wants Liverpool."

While Zielinski is keen on the move, Liverpool are yet to meet Udinese's asking price for the player.

Liverpool have already made two additions to their squad ahead of the 2016-17 season. Cameroon defender Joel Matip will arrive at the club on a free transfer from Schalke on 1 July while goalkeeper Loris Karius has also agreed a move from Mainz.

Serbian talent Marko Grujic will also link up with his new club this summer. The 19-year-old midfielder signed for the Reds club in the January transfer window but remained on loan at Red Star Belgrade for the remainder of the 2015-16 season.
