  • The Spaniard moves to the Italian side for around £4.3m plus add-ons.
  • The defender will continue his development in Austria following his last season loan at Norwich City.

Liverpool have confirmed the departures of Luis Alberto and Andre Wisdom as Jurgen Klopp continues the rebuilding of his squad. The Spaniard has joined Lazio on a permanent basis while Wisdom has moved on loan to Red Bull Salzburg after spending last season at Norwich City.

The versatile Spanish forward was recruited by Brendan Rodgers from Sevilla in the summer of 2013 as one for the future. The Reds then paid around £6.8m for his services after he enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Barcelona's second team, scoring 11 goals in the second division having been converted from an offensive midfielder.

However, the 23-year-old struggled to replicate that form at Anfield and was sent on loan to Malaga and Deportivo in subsequent seasons. He formed an impressive partnership in the attack with Arsenal's new signing Lucas Perez in La Coruna but earlier in the summer was deemed surplus to the requirements of Klopp.

Sevilla and Valencia have since been linked with his services but Liverpool have now confirmed that Luis Alberto has finally joined Lazio in a deal which allows the Reds to recoup a big part of the £6.8m outlay for his transfer.

"Liverpool can today confirm that Luis Alberto has completed a permanent transfer to Italian club Lazio," Liverpool declared in a statement. "Midfielder Alberto joined the Reds from Sevilla in June 2013 and made 12 appearances in all competitions during 2013-14. The Spaniard returned to La Liga for a season-long loan with Malaga in 2014-15, before spending last campaign with Deportivo La Coruna. The 23-year-old will now continue his career in Serie A with Lazio."

Meanwhile, Wisdom has left the club on loan to continue his development at Red Bull Salzburg under former Watford manager Oscar Garcia.

"Andre Wisdom has agreed a season-long loan stay with Red Bull Salzburg. The 23-year-old will spend the 2016-17 campaign with Oscar Garcia's team as they bid to defend their Austrian Bundesliga title," the club also confirmed. "Wisdom, who has clocked up 22 Reds appearances since making his debut in 2012, spent last season on loan with Norwich City, playing 14 games."
