Lazio star Felipe Anderson is reportedly set to sign for Manchester United during the summer transfer window. The 22-year-old Brazilian attracted interest from the Premier League giants during the January window and the club are set to seal a deal for the player at the end of the current campaign, according to Lazio president Claudio Lotito.

It is reported that the much sought-after player will make the switch from the Italian capital to Old Trafford in a deal worth as much as €60m (£46.8m). Lotito was reportedly overheard confirming the move after seeing his other club, Salernitana, draw 1-1 with Crotone in Serie B.

"I bought Felipe Anderson for €8m [from Santos] and I've sold him on for €60m," Lotito said, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. "Next season, he's going to Manchester United."

Lazio have subsequently denied the quotes attributed to Lotito, saying reports of him joining United are "devoid of any foundation".

United were strongly linked with the player during the winter mercato, while Lazio claimed they had received a bid worth €50m in August 2015. Despite his reputation as one of European football's most exciting prospects, Anderson has endured a difficult season so far, scoring just six goals.

However, his pace and creativity are thought to be the attraction to the Old Trafford hierarchy. United have struggled for goals this campaign, finding the net a mere 33 times in 26 Premier League outings.
