Manchester United are reportedly interested in Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt, after the Morocco international's produced a standout performance during Hoops' 1-3 defeat at Old Trafford at the weekend.

Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to bring in a winger either in January or next summer. And the versatile Taarabt, who is capable of playing in the centre or out wide, has now emerged as a target for the Red Devils, according to The Sun. The report also claims the Scot is disappointed with the output from wingers Ashley Young and Luis Nani this season, leaving Antonio Valencia as the only favoured option on the flanks.

Taarabt was sold to QPR by their new boss Harry Redknapp, while he was in charge of Tottenham Hotspur. The 23-year-old joined the Rangers on an initial loan in March 2009 and made the switch permanent in the next summer.

Redknapp has now stated that he had good relationship with Taarabt during their time at White Hart Lane and vowed to keep his top asset, especially with QPR battling relegation at the moment.

"He's an amazing talent with the ball. He can still do more without it, but there's no doubt he's a match-winner for us. He's the player who can do something special, so we'll be looking to get the best out of him. I never really wanted to sell him at Tottenham to be honest. I had a good relationship with him. I never had a problem with Adel. At times his problems were self-inflicted, but I let him go because he wasn't playing and the chairman felt it was a good time to let him go," Redknapp explained.

However, the Hoops could be tempted to cash in on Taarabt, if Ferguson comes up with an offer that would be hard to turn down. The midfielder has also been a linked with a move to London rivals Arsenal, as a backup plan if Arsene Wenger fails to land top target and Crystal Palace sensation Wilfred Zaha.
