Manchester United have confirmed transfers for defenders Jonny Evans and Tyler Blackett on 29 August, Saturday. The 27-year-old completed a permanent transfer to West Bromwich Albion, while Blackett joins Celtic on a season-long loan deal.

Evans has seen his first team appearances being limited under Louis van Gaal in 2014/15 season. The Northern Irishman came up through the ranks of the Red Devils' academy, before breaking into the first team in 2007.

West Brom manager Tony Pulis confirmed his interest in signing the United man. The central defender has joined The Hawthorns for an undisclosed fee.

"Jonny Evans has completed his transfer from Manchester United to West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee," a statement on United's official website read.

Meanwhile, Blackett broke into the first team after the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager handed him his debut against Swansea City last season. He signed a long-term contract in February and will join former United defender Saidy Janko at Celtic, who joined the Scottish champions on a permanent transfer earlier in the summer.

A statement on the club's official website read, "Manchester United and Scottish champions Celtic have agreed a season-long loan deal for defender Tyler Blackett."

With Evans' permanent switch to West Brom and Blackett's loan move to Celtic, Van Gaal currently has the services of Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Paddy McNair as the first choice centre-backs in the squad. United make a trip to Wales as they take on Swansea City in the Premier League clash at the Liberty Stadium on 30 August, Sunday.
