Things at New York's Madame Tussauds just got a little hotter as the attraction unveiled the likenesses of British-Irish boy band One Direction.

Some of the group's biggest fans were in attendance, becoming the first sets of eyes and lips to touch the figures as they make their U.S. debut.

The presentation of the figures was to take place outside in New York's Times Square, however high temps forced the event inside.

One Direction were put together by record and television producer Simon Cowell on the The X Factor three years ago. Since then the quartet have sold over 29 million records and are currently on their first world tour.

In August the guys will release their first documentary "One Direction: This Is Us 3D."

The figures will be on display in New York until October 11 before heading to Sydney, Australia.
