The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited entries for the Don and Gee Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting 2012.

Nicholl Fellowships, which began in 1986, are instituted to identify and encourage talented new screen writers across the globe. The annual fellowship was given to 133 writers since its inception.

There are five fellowships of up to $35,000 (£21,893) awarded annually to the new talents in screen writing.

The fellowship requires the final ten applicants to attend awards week ceremonies and seminars in November.

The fellowship winners have to complete one original feature film screenplay within the fellowship year.

The last date for submission of online applications is 31 May 2012.
