The Queen has continued her Diamond Jubilee tour with a packed schedule of hospital openings and cutting the ribbon on BBC's MediaCityUK development at Salford Quays.

Dressed in a strawberry pink linen dress by Angela Kelly, with a strawberry and cream wool coat and ruby diamond fan brooch, she was greeted by hundreds of royalty fans.

She started her visit to Manchester by opening three hospitals - Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Saint Mary's Hospital - and a new wing at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Showing no signs of flagging, Her Majesty then moved on to the MediaCityUK development at Salford Quays where she officially unveiled the BBC's new northern hub.

She was shown around by BBC director-general Mark Thompson and BBC North director Peter Salmon.
