Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao's future at the club has yet again been questioned following Louis van Gaal's snub ahead of their game against Southampton on Sunday.

The Saints ended the Red Devils' 11-match unbeaten streak with a 1-0 win at Old Trafford and despite being fully fit, the manager chose to leave out the Colombian international in favour of the attacking quartet of Angel di Maria, Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.

And when the manager was asked if he had any regrets regarding his decision following the loss, he said: "No," as quoted by the BBC.

This has brought into question the former Atletico Madrid striker's future role at United, as it is still unclear if Van Gaal will convert his one-year loan spell into a permanent deal.

However, Falcao's agent Jorge Mendes has come to the defence of his client, stating that United have a fantastic player at hand and is confident that the Colombian forward will have his choice of top clubs, should the Old Trafford club fail to make his deal permanent.

"Radamel Falcao to Italy? This is a very good player. The fans of Manchester United have a fantastic player. He could play in any team, anything can happen. What is sure one hundred percent is that it will play in one of the best teams in the world, either Manchester United or not. But it takes time, we'll see what happens," Mendes said, as quoted by French newspaper Le10Sport.

The super agent, who also handles top players and managers, has hinted that Falcao could join Italian giants Juventus if United do not sign the striker on a permanent basis at the end of the current campaign.

Meanwhile, Falcao has opened up regarding his stay in Manchester so far and revealed that he and his family are very happy in England. He is also grateful to the club and his teammates, who have helped him settle down without any problems.

"I feel really good.I'm glad I found the pleasure of playing after a difficult period and my family is well acclimated to the area.We enjoy living here in Manchester, where supporters and club members are really great. I am grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity and I thank my teammates, who did everything to integrate myself at best. My only wish now is to restore their confidence," Falcao explained.
