  • Arsenal and Lyon had also been linked with the striker in recent days.
  • The 25-year-old has agreed a five-year deal.
  • Sevilla have reportedly paid Toulouse €9m to secure his services.

Sevilla have completed the signing of long-term target Wissam Ben Yedder from Toulouse following recent reports linking the striker with a move to Arsenal. The Europe League winners continued this way their summer overhaul following a busy day in which they have also announced the arrival of Luciano Vietto on loan from Atletico Madrid and the departure of Kevin Gameiro in the opposite direction.

Ben Yedder, 25, has been in the radar of the Andalucian side since the last summer transfer window. Sevilla then made an approach to secure his services to replace Carlos Bacca but eventually turned their attention to Fernando Llorente after failing to agree terms with Toulouse.

Reports in Spain during the current transfer window claimed that Sevilla were ready to renew their attempts to secure the striker amid the speculations linking Gameiro with a move away from the club.

Yet, earlier this week emerged that the Europe League winners may fail once again in their attemps over the Toulouse forward due to the intentions of both Arsenal and Lyon to battle them for his services.

The Sun earlier this week reported that Arsene Wenger was confident to beat Sevilla for his services in a deal worth £8m ($10.5m) as the Gunners are still in the hunt for a striker to bolster the attack after having failed to sign other targets like Jamie Vardy and Alexandre Lacazette.

Meanwhile, Lyon outspoken president later revealed that they were also interested in Ben Yedder after the striker had been one of the most prolific scorer in the Ligue 1 side in recent seasons, having netted 23 goals in 41 appearances for Toulouse in the 2015-2016 campaign.

But Sevilla have now announced that they have beaten other suitors for his services only hours later they confirmed the departure of Gameiro to Atletico Madrid. The Frenchman is eventually expected to fill the gap left by his compatriot and different sources in Spain claimed that the deal have been completed in around €9m.
