Stuart Broad's hat-trick and Liam Plunkett's maiden international five-wicket haul gave England a firm grip of the second Test against Sri Lanka after day one at Headingley.
England bowled Sri Lanka out for just 257 after Plunkett took career best figures of 5-64 on his home ground while Broad took a second career hat-trick by dismissing Kumar Sangakkara (79), Dinesh Chandimal (45) and Shaminda Eranga (0).
Captain Alastair Cook (14) and Sam Robson (21) guided England to 36 for 0 at the close and leaves the hosts heavily in the ascendancy as they chase their first Test win of the summer
