Overview

Tottenham welcome Premier League high-flyers Southampton to White Hart Lane on Sunday in what will be an emotional fixture for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Spurs boss took Southampton to their best finish last season, but will be in the opposite dugout hoping to get all three points from his former side.

Pochettino will be hoping Spurs can get back to winning ways in the league following a spate of losses and draws. They come into this game following a 1-1 draw against Besiktas in the Europa League.

The manager has a fully fit squad apart from long-term absentee Kyle Walker and there could be a few changes following the midweek game. The north London club has struggled to score goals and kill off games.

Meanwhile, Southampton are on the other end of the spectrum. The south coast club find themselves third in the league, and on a hot streak, and a win against Tottenham will take them back to the second place.

Ronald Koeman has started his reign on a bright note and have not lost a game since their opening day loss against Liverpool. The Saints also knocked out Arsenal in the League Cup, and the reported £8m they paid for striker Graziano Pelle already looks a bargain, as the Italian has notched up 5 goals in 8 games.

Despite it being an emotional match for Pochettino and a few of the Saints players, once the whistle blows it will be all about the three points.

Stat of the Match: Tottenham have won all four games against Southampton since the Saints returned to the top flight.

What Managers Say:

Mauricio Pochettino: "I don't know [if the fans love me]," he said. "I love Southampton. I love a lot of people. That year and a half in my life was an amazing period and I left, but this is another thing. I have amazing memories from Southampton. I'm happy Southampton have a great season and it's a game that we need to win the three points. We need to fight with Southampton on Sunday, but it's emotional. Football is emotional and Sunday is emotional for us too."

Ronald Koeman: "For me [it does] not [give this game extra spice] because I wasn't here last season, but I understand for Mauricio Pochettino maybe it's special. I think it's special for him and maybe for some players. We changed a lot this season our squad but it's always special for some players who worked with Mauricio last season. But there is no influence in the final result because the most important thing is to win the game or lose the game."
