UEFA Champions League Preview and Prediction: Real Madrid v Ajax

The UEFA Champions League returns to the Santiago Bernebeu this evening as Real Madrid entertain Ajax in what should be an eventful and open Champions League game of football.

Real Madrid should head into the game in confident mood after their match day one win but Ajax, after only drawing with Lyon at home will be looking for a shock win at the Bernebeu to kick start their campaign.

Jose Mourinho's men return to the Bernebeu fresh from their match day one victory and with Ajax only taking a point in their opening fixture, both sides will be looking for the victory. Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho will be forced to watch the game from the stands once again this evening after his conduct in last season's Champions League semi-final against eventual winners Barcelona, meaning Aitor Karanka will take charge from pitch side.

Real Madrid however does have serious defensive injury worries with Fabio Cointreau and Pepe ruled out due to injury and Ricardo Carvalho is a major doubt for the home side.

Ajax should be boosted by the return of both Miralem Sulejmani and Vurnon Anita who have recently recovered from injuries and will start against Jose Mourinho's men although the Dutch club will be without Nicolai Boilesen, who has a hamstring injury.

Probable Teams

Real Madrid - Casillas Ramos, Varane, Albiol, Arbeloa, Khedira, Xabi Alonso, Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo, Benzema

Ajax -Vermeer, Van der Wiel, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Anita , De Jong, Eriksen, Janssen, Sulejmani, Sigthorssson, Boerrigter
