A detached house with a garden, acres of land and a garage — that is the ideal property for homebuyers, suggests search data from the listings website PrimeLocation.

The firm, which operates in the middle and upper ends of the property market, analysed keyword searches on its website between 2014 and 2016 to see what homebuyers were looking for. In all three years, "garden" came out on top. But big risers were "detached", which increased by 63% since 2014, and "furnished", up 51% since 2015.

"With such an increase in searches for detached properties, plus a rise in house-hunters looking for homes with additional features such as annexes, space is clearly the priority for Brits," said Lawrence Hall of PrimeLocation. "It's also interesting to see how practicality has become key for house-hunters, with a surge in demand for furnished properties and parking spaces."
