The Super Bowl is just hours away, and fans are eagerly anticipating their favourite teams competing on the field. The Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots will once again face each other during Sunday's match. In 2014, the two teams also met at Super Bowl XLIX, with the Patriots winning 28-24.

Ahead of the match, the traditional events at the Super Bowl will take place first. This includes the singing of the National Anthem, the introduction of players, several pre-match activities, performances, and more.

How Much Do Super Bowl Tickets Cost?

Since the Super Bowl is a major sporting event, it used to be extremely difficult to secure tickets for the match. However, this year proves to be different. Weeks before the actual match, ticket prices reportedly plummeted, making them more accessible than ever. Tickets that used to sell out within minutes remain available even hours before the match.

There is an explanation why ticket prices dropped to the mid-$4,000 (£3,100) range. Resellers have also lowered their prices to $8,000 (£6,200). During the Super Bowl's final week, a 25 per cent drop in prices was also reported.

Due to the country's current economy, as well as the economy of almost all other countries across the world, sports enthusiasts seemingly no longer have the same spending power that they once enjoyed. Household budgets have become tighter than ever, and other priorities must take precedence over Super Bowl tickets.

Are Super Bowl Tickets Actually More Affordable?

The lowered Super Bowl ticket prices do not necessarily indicate that they have become more affordable. Rather, they simply illustrate how luxury markets respond when consumers face affordability limits. The Super Bowl is not becoming cheaper. The marginal demand for tickets is simply proving to be more price-sensitive than sellers may have anticipated.

Other factors also need to be considered, including this year's Super Bowl venue. The sporting event is set to take place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, which is one of the high-cost areas in the US. Consequently, everything from hotels to flights and meals has increased substantially in the area.

As a result, the ticket market has become sensitive to late-cycle demands. The upper-level end zones are now offered at considerably lower prices. This suggests that some people are willing to pay for a seat but not pay for premium positioning. It is also important to note that tickets in the midfield and lower-bowl seats remain unchanged.

Fans React to Lowered Ticket Prices

Some Super Bowl fans could not contain their excitement at the reports that some ticket prices have been decreased. On Reddit, they shared their thoughts on the news, and it reflects widespread concerns about the current cost of living.

'Since the cost of living is so high these days, a working staff like me can finally afford to go,' one person wrote.

Others believe that the lowered ticket prices remain expensive and difficult to afford.

'Honestly, that's still expensive but a lot more reasonable than I would expect,' another person wrote.

'For the average American, this is laughable. It's a rich man's game. They own the country now,' another person wrote.
