Arsenal are considering a move in signing Real Madrid star Iker Casillas, according to the London Standard.

The goalkeeper has spent his entire career in the Spanish capital and has won everything, both at the club and international level. However, a dip in his form has seen the 10-times European champions target Manchester United stopper David De Gea.

It is believed that Casillas has reached an agreement with Real to leave the club, allowing them to sign the Premier League star in the summer transfer window. His potential exit from Santiago Bernabeu has alerted the Gunners.

Casillas is unlikely to stay at Real and play second fiddle to his compatriot, if De Gea returns to Madrid. Arsene Wenger has long been an admirer of the Spain international and could rekindle his side's interest in signing the veteran goalkeeper.

The north London club have David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny as the two keepers in the squad. The latter was replaced by the Colombian international in the second half of last season and has been very impressive.

However, Wenger wants to bring in an experienced keeper so that the Emirates club could avoid leaking goals as they look to challenge Chelsea for the title.

Arsenal are also interested in signing Petr Cech as he has expressed his desire to leave the Premier League champions. The Blues keeper has also been on United's radar as a replacement for De Gea, if he joins Real.

Cech has already admitted that his future will be resolved in the coming weeks as he looks for a summer move away from Stamford Bridge. It should be seen whether the Czech Republican will stay in London by making a switch to Arsenal.

Jose Mourinho would be hoping Cech could join United over Arsenal. However, the Portuguese tactician does not have any say in deciding his future. If he joins the 20-times English champions, Arsenal could make an approach for Casillas.
