Manchester United target Arda Turan has set his sights on a move to Chelsea as his "first choice" summer destination after his agent recently revealed the player is likely to move to the Premier League, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

Ahmet Bulut, the agent of the versatile Atletico Madrid midfielder, told AS earlier in June that the Turkey international wants to leave the Vicente Calderon to play in the Premier League, with him having been in discussions with three major clubs from England.

Bulut, while also admitting offers from AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, said: "He is planning on leaving Spain this summer. He would like to play in the Premier League, this is the path he would like to see his career take.

"His departure from Atletico won't be easy due to his €41m buyout clause. I'm in discussion with three clubs but I can't reveal their names, they are three of the best clubs in England and indeed in Europe."

La Gazzetta Dello Sport later reported that one of the "three" Premier League clubs interested in Turan is Manchester United.

Louis van Gaal's side have already been linked with the Turkish player in recent seasons and the Italian publication claimed that following talks, they are preparing a bid in accordance with his release clause of around €41m (£29.2m, $45.8m).

But AS now claims the "first intention" of the player is to move to Stamford Bridge – and Atletico Madrid's interest in the return of Filipe Luis could facilitate the move.

The Spanish publication claims Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has already given the green light to let Luis leave the club but want to secure his replacement before sanctioning his departure, with The Daily Mirror claiming he is keen on £15m-rated Ghana left-back Abdul Baba Rahman.

So while the Brazilian left-back reportedly wants to return to the Vicente Calderon just a year after making the move to west London, Turan could make the move in the other direction to reunite with his former teammates Diego Costa and Thibaut Courtois at Chelsea.

AS adds that Manchester City would be his second-choice destination even ahead of United and revealed Turan's father is a Liverpool fan – but the player has ruled out a move to Anfield because he wants to play in the Champions League.
