BAFTA has announced its shortlist for this year's Video Game Audience Award scheduled for March 16, which will be the only public-voted category at the Academy's annual awards ceremony.

The event sponsored by GAME will feature last year's blockbuster games, hand-picked by a panel of expert media folk including TV presenters Jason Bradbury and Michael Underwood, and journalists from the likes of Shortlist, Official Nintendo Magazine, Official Xbox Magazine and Eurogamer.

Slugging it out for "Game of The Year" title are:

Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, FIFA 12, LA Noire, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Minecraft, Portal 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.

Mass Effect 2 took home the award at last year's event, which saw over 110,000 votes cast by the UK public. This year's winner would be chosen based on vote count, which you can post here. And will be announced by YouTube gaming sensation Syndicate.

"The gaming industry is hugely creative and the GAME BAFTA Video Games Awards aims to recognise the talented and exiting figures and games that have set the industry alight over the past year," GAME marketing director, Anna-Marie Mason said.

She added, "The BAFTA GAME Award is an award we are particularly proud of as it gives our customers the chance to make their opinion heard. This year's shortlist is really exciting and we would like to encourage every GAME customer to vote for their favourite game - we can't wait to see the final result."
