West Midlands Police are on the lookout for this man (WMP)

A CCTV image of a man who attempted two bank robberies in one hour has been released by West Midlands Police.

The man entered a NatWest branch on Knowle High Street in Solihull and showed the cashier an empty holdall. He demanded staff fill it with cash.

The cashier tripped the panic button and the suspect fled empty-handed.

He then went to a nearby Nationwide just over an hour later and threatened the cashier by claiming he had a gun. The cashier handed over an undisclosed sum of money and the man escaped.

He is descirbed as a black man between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 10ins, of slim build. He is thought to be about 30 years old and wore a dark coloured beanie hat under a high-visibility jacket with the hood up.

Witnesses are urged to contact police at Solihull on 101 or through the independent Crimestoppers charity at 0800 55111.
