  • Belgium starlet already missed La Liga encounter with Osasuna at weekend.
  • Blues doctors will be monitoring the injury before sending him back to Spain.

Chelsea loanee Charly Musonda has returned to West London for treatment after suffering a knee injury during his loan spell at Real Betis. The La Liga side confirmed the blow after the Belgian starlet already missed the weekend win over Osasuna due to the issue.

Musonda was re-sent on loan to Andalucian side during the summer transfer window in order to aid his development. The 20-year-old had already impressed on loan at the La Liga club during the second part of last season, helping his side avoid relegation with a total of 15 appearances.

However, the Chelsea loanee start's to the new season has not been as impressive following the arrival of former Sunderland manager Gustavo Poyet at the club. The offensive midfielder has only started one La Liga game this term. Worse has now come, after he fell victim to an injury that is expected to hinder his breakthrough into the Betis team further.

Betis have failed to make an exact diagnosis on the injury but it looks that the Chelsea loanee could be facing a spell on the sidelines as he has damaged his ligaments.

"Charly Musonda is suffering some niggles in the collateral ligaments of his left knee following a knock," Betis confirmed via their official website. "The player has travelled to London in order to be checked by the Chelsea FC doctors. He will stay there during the week for the English club to address the length of the injury."
