Premier League team Chelsea, led by manager Jose Mourinho arrived in Thailand on Friday (July 12) a week ahead of a pre-season tour in Asia.

Returned manager Jose Mourinho, Frank Lampard, John Terry, Peter Cech and others greeted Thai fans at Bangkok.

Mourinho, 50, returned to the top English premier league team after he left Real Madrid in June and Thai fans had high hopes for the Portugese manager.

Bangkok will host the pre-season training camp for a week before a match on Wednesday (July 17) with the Thai All Stars team in Bangkok stadium.

The Wednesday match will be the first game since Mourinho returned to Chelsea.

After Thailand, the Europa Champion League team will visit Malaysia and Indonesia.

The pre-season tour in Thailand was under threat after FIFA (Federation International Football Association) executive committee member Worawi Makudi failed to push through FIFA-backed reforms with the matter put on hold.
