Keeping household safe is a top priority for everyone, and staying informed about product recalls is a key part which can't be overlooked.

This year Costco has issued recalls on various items due to safety concerns. To help navigate these alerts, a clear guide has been compiled about the products flagged in 2025.

Costco shoppers should check their purchases for any recent recall notices. The well-known retailer has identified nearly a dozen items from various suppliers that have been recalled in the past few months.

These products vary, encompassing everything from power banks to window air conditioners, with some carrying an immediate 'stop use' warning for consumers.

A considerable number of these items were available through Costco Next, a special programme allowing members to buy directly from specific brands at Costco's competitive prices. Other recalled products were sold directly through Costco warehouses. Customers need to understand the procedures for recalls and returns at Costco.

Recent Product Recalls

Anker Power Bank (10K, 22.5W) — Model A1257 (Costco Next): The recall notice points to a 'potential issue involving lithium-ion battery cells from a single vendor,' with a low chance of malfunction. While details are limited, Anker's website advises consumers to 'stop using the device immediately.'

Anker PowerCore 10000 Power Bank Model A1263 (Costco): The recall states that this power bank may overheat, presenting a potential fire risk. Anker's website instructs consumers to 'immediately stop using the product.'

Danby 8k U-Shaped Window Air Conditioner: The recall notice indicates that these units might not drain water fast enough, potentially causing mould to develop, and advises consumers to 'stop using it immediately.'

The Consumer Product Safety Commission highlights that these air conditioners were sold by numerous retailers under various brand names, including Midea, Comfort Aire, Danby, Frigidaire, Insignia, Keystone, LBG Products, Mr. Cool, Perfect Aire, and Sea Breeze.

Midea U-Shape Window ACs (Item #'s 1572673, 1657921, 1677429, 1768985, 2677450, and 2677429): The recall notice states that water gathering within the unit could result in mould growth, which may then cause respiratory problems or other types of infections.

Michelin Agilis Cross Climate C-Metric Tires Size 185/60R15C: The recall indicates these tyres do not meet a federal safety standard for endurance, and 'chunks of tread rubber may detach from the shoulder block.'

Where to Find Recall Information

To find Costco's most up-to-date recalls, you can visit the 'Recalls & Product Notices' section on their official website. Details on previous recalls are also available there in an online archive.

Consumers can also find additional recall information from various retailers and manufacturers by visiting the websites of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the US Food & Drug Administration, the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

These sites offer searchable databases for added convenience. Furthermore, the CPSC, FDA, and USDA present their recall lists in reverse chronological order. USA TODAY also keeps a database of recalled items.

How Long Does It Take to Return an Item at Costco?

Costco generally accepts most returns with no specific time limits, though there are a few exceptions to this policy. A 90-day return window applies to electronics.

  • Cigarettes and alcohol cannot be returned to locations where they are prohibited by law.
  • Items such as airline and live performance event tickets, precious metals, Shop Cards, and gift cards are non-returnable.
  • Diamonds exceeding 1.00 carat require all original documentation for returns and will undergo authentication.
  • Products with a limited lifespan, such as tyres and batteries, may come with specific, limited warranties.
  • Custom-made products ordered through the Special Order Kiosk and Custom Installed Programs are not eligible for returns or refunds, 'except for warranty repair/replacement due to failure to meet specifications.'

It's important to note that recalls are handled separately from standard returns.

Consumers should refer to specific recall notices for instructions on what to do with affected items.
