Bureau of Prisons Says Reported Diddy Fight With 'Dudus' Coke 'Did Not Happen' but Won't Explain His Injury
TMZ stands by its account of an ambulance trip from Fort Dix, but Combs' own team now doubts the early reports

The Federal Bureau of Prisons denies that Sean 'Diddy' Combs fought Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, a Jamaican drug lord, at FCI Fort Dix. A spokesperson said on Thursday, 15 October, that the report was 'false and did not happen'. The agency would not say if Combs was hurt, how, or if he left the prison.
TMZ, which first reported Combs' hospital visit, has not backed down from its fight report. It said an ambulance took Combs out early on Saturday, 10 October, with a head injury, and that he was back before dawn. Combs' spokesperson says the team cannot verify the reported fight or how the injury happened.
What the Prison Agency Said
The spokesperson gave the statement to TMZ and USA Today. The bureau does not discuss any inmate's conditions, the spokesperson said, citing privacy and safety. When TMZ asked how Combs was hurt, it had nothing to add. It confirmed only that Combs, 56, remains at Fort Dix, a low-security federal prison in New Jersey. In July, when Combs reportedly had an earlier fight with another inmate, it declined to comment at all, TMZ said.
The earlier reports had been far more specific. TMZ's sources alleged that the fight happened on Friday, 9 October, and that Coke was sent to solitary afterwards. They said inmates blamed Combs after officials searched housing units and seized phones, including one of Coke's. A source told People the injury did not put his life at risk and that he returned the same day. A separate report noted by XXL said Combs struck his head on an upper bunk.
How Diddy's Camp and 50 Cent Responded
Juda Engelmayer, Combs' spokesperson, said on Monday that the team was still trying to determine what happened and told Page Six it had no way to verify the fight story. Combs' health came first, he added. By Thursday, his position had moved further. He said the bureau's denial confirmed the team's doubts about the early reports, Rolling Out reported. He also said the team had seen no verified evidence that Coke or anyone else attacked Combs.
Engelmayer has pushed back on stories about Combs' prison life before. One was an NBC News report on 29 September that described banned goods and special treatment inside. 'Sean continues to serve his sentence within the rules,' he said then, adding that Combs was awaiting a ruling on his appeal. Rapper 50 Cent, a long-time rival, joked that Combs would get a knock on the head on Jimmy Kimmel Live! days before the bureau's denial, Rolling Out reported.
What Comes Next for Combs
Combs is serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. His expected release date has changed several times and now stands at 2 March 2028, Rolling Out reported. The bureau says dates listed in its records can still change.
Coke, a former leader of the Shower Posse gang, was jailed for 23 years for racketeering and conspiring to commit assault. His capture in Jamaica in 2010 followed deadly fighting in Kingston's Tivoli Gardens. TMZ says officials have raided Fort Dix several times since the NBC News report.
