50 Cent Tells Kimmel Diddy Watched His Netflix Doc on iPad in Prison, Jokes 'This Is Not Jail, This Is a Club'
A news outlet cited two sources who said Combs watched the series on a 'jailbroken' tablet

50 Cent joked about reports that Sean 'Diddy' Combs had watched the Netflix documentary he executive-produced on a modified tablet in prison during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on 13 October. 'This is not jail,' the rapper said, before adding: 'This is a club.'
Curtis Jackson, known professionally as 50 Cent, was discussing Sean Combs: The Reckoning with Jimmy Kimmel when the host brought up reports that Combs had watched the series while incarcerated. Jackson expressed surprise at the reported access, referring to the device as a 'jailbroken iPad'.
What 50 Cent Said on Jimmy Kimmel's Show
Jackson told Kimmel he had not known Combs would get a 'jailbroken iPad' in prison. He added that the device appeared to allow Combs to browse the internet.
He also joked that Combs might have considered the documentary 'the best documentary he ever saw in his life'.
The comments followed a 29 September report by NBC News based on interviews with four men who had spent time in the same prison unit as Combs and material from inside the facility. Two sources told NBC that Combs had used a jailbroken tablet to watch films and documentaries, including Jackson's series. Prison authorities did not confirm the specific allegation.
Combs' representative, Juda Engelmayer, has disputed portrayals of the music mogul as receiving special treatment in prison, saying he is serving his sentence within the rules while awaiting the outcome of his appeal.
Jimmy Kimmel's Reaction to the iPad Claim
Kimmel responded to Jackson's account by noting that Combs had watched a documentary made by his public rival. 'And then it had to be even more satisfying to learn that he watched the documentary,' the host said.
The exchange also touched on whether access to an iPad was typical for an inmate. Jackson reiterated that Combs appeared to have a device that allowed him to access online content.
Netflix Documentary and Its Emmy Win
Sean Combs: The Reckoning premiered on Netflix in December 2025. Directed by Alexandria Stapleton, the four-part series examines Combs' rise in the music industry, his work with Bad Boy Records and the allegations that preceded his federal criminal case.
The documentary was produced by House of Nonfiction, G-Unit Film & Television and Texas Crew Productions. Jackson served as an executive producer.
The series received three nominations at the 2026 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series and Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program. It won Outstanding Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program for the episode Blink Again. The award recognised the editing team.
50 Cent and Diddy's History
Jackson and Combs have been public rivals for years, with Jackson repeatedly criticising Combs in interviews and on social media. Their feud has continued as allegations about Combs have led to criminal proceedings and civil lawsuits.
Jackson's role as executive producer of Sean Combs: The Reckoning placed him behind a documentary examining Combs' career and legal troubles. Combs' representatives have challenged aspects of the coverage surrounding him, including reports about his treatment in prison.
Latest Diddy Update: Sentence, Appeal and Prison Reports
Combs is serving a 50-month federal sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix, a low-security prison in New Jersey. He was convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He is appealing his conviction and sentence.
The Los Angeles Times reported on 8 October that the Federal Bureau of Prisons' inmate database listed his projected release date as 2 March 2028, later than the previously reported date of 21 January 2028. The reason for the change has not been publicly confirmed by prison authorities.
Combs was also reportedly taken to hospital on 10 October after suffering a head injury and returned to prison the same day, according to Variety, citing the Los Angeles Times and TMZ. Engelmayer said the circumstances were being checked and that Combs' health and wellbeing were the immediate concern. The cause of the reported injury remained unclear.
