Lionel Richie is just another protective father! The Grammy-winning singer had earlier said that he was "scared to death" that his teenage daughter, Sofia is dating a self-confessed "sex addict". And, looks like his reaction to Sofia's much older boyfriend, Scott Disick, hasn't changed much.

The Hello singer baffled his interviewer as he rolled his fingers into a gun gesture and pointed at his head when asked about his 19-year-old daughter's dating life. Richie was attending the SAG-AFTRA Foundation's Patron of the Artists Awards on Thursday night (9 Nov) and Sofia was present as well.

Exuding Hollywood elegance, the model joined her father for the red carpet event, rocking a crisp white pantsuit, a slick bun and some diamond danglers.

Her excitement was quite apparent as she spoke to E! Online: "The fact that I got to get dressed up and go walk a carpet with him is so exciting for me. I love to go places with him."

But the topic of her romance with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star still seems to be a tad sensitive for the Commodores frontman. "He's good. He's been very nice. He's been very cool. He's very supportive, whatever that means," the catwalk diva said, responding to her father's epic pointing-gun-at-his-head reaction.

He maybe apprehensive about the couple, but the 68-year-old singer is certain about one thing - "Never get into dating advice."

"Because remember, it's always like preschool. Whatever the argument was on Monday, they make up on Tuesday. And then the parents are mad at each other for the rest of the year," Richie said opening up about his daughter's much-talked about private life.

He added, "Just get the parents out of it [and] they'll work it out. And if it's really serious, they'll come to me and figure it out. But they've got to go through the hard knocks. That's just how it works," Us Weekly reports.

Sofia and Disick first sparked dating rumours when they were spotted together in the south of France during the Cannes Film Festival. Since then, the pair has made numerous loved-up appearances, as speculation swirls that the two might be getting serious.

"Scott is telling friends that he's in love with [Sofia]," a Us Weekly source claimed, adding, "She is so into Scott. She has been for a while."
