New Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to sign his former Chelsea star Nemanja Matic. The Premier League-winning manager worked with Matic during his second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge and is apparently eager for the Serbian to join him at Old Trafford.

Matic, 27, endured a disappointing season in 2015-16, but that has reportedly not discouraged Mourinho from regarding him so highly. The Portuguese boss is an admirer of Matic and thinks his physical presence could bring some much-needed steel to the United midfield, according to ESPN.

What's more, Mourinho reportedly retains an interest in Juventus' much sought-after midfielder Paul Pogba, although a valuation of well above £60m ($86.8m) is likely to be prohibitive. The French star is also said to be attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Mourinho is also in the transfer market for a fast winger, a striker and another defender as he seeks to overhaul United's much-maligned squad this summer.

On the flip side, the United boss is apparently open to the idea of selling Spanish duo Juan Mata and Ander Herrera, as well as Argentine defender Marcos Rojo. During his second spell at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho sold Mata to United as he did not feature in his plans.
