Manchester United are reportedly set to complete the signing of winger Angel di Maria from Real Madrid by next week.

According to Sky Sports, negotiations between United and Real are at an advanced stage and the Argentine's agent Jorge Mendes is set to arrive early next week to put the final touches on the deal to bring di Maria to Old Trafford.

It is believed that the Red Devils will pay the Spanish capital club a fee of around £48m, and the total package, when wages are considered is reportedly worth over £60m.

The Argentine winger has made it clear that he wants to leave the club in the past few weeks, after Real boss Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that the player had asked to leave. Di Maria was also left out of the squad for the Super Copa game against Atletico Madrid, signaling an end to his Real career.

The report also claims that apart from the pay package, it has also been decided that the former Benfica player will wear the number seven jersey, a jersey donned by some of the legends of the Manchester club like Eric Cantona, George Best and also di Maria's current team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.

United have beaten off competition from Paris Saint-Germain to land the Argentine star, and it is suggested that the player also prefers a move to England rather than the French capital.

Sky Sports Spanish football expert Guillem Balague feels that the deal will be completed in a matter of days, as the Old Trafford club and the player have agreed terms and the two clubs are also thought to be in agreement over the valuation of the player.
