Manchester United fans took on social networking site to express their joy after Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho first confirmed that Juan Mata will be signing for the Premier League champions this month.

The Old Trafford club announced the arrival of the 25-year-old in their official website. A statement read: "Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Chelsea Football Club for the transfer of Juan Mata for a club-record fee. The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms."

Mata is United's first signing of the January transfer window and the addition of the Spain international has lifted everyone at the club. The midfielder has already won the World Cup and European championship with Spain, while achieving success in the Champions League, Europa League and the FA Cup with Chelsea.

The former Valencia man has been signed by United for a club-record fee from Chelsea. The arrival of Mata could help David Moyes' side finish in the top four after their poor run under the Scot this season.

United are seventh in the league table with 37 points from 22 games and have been knocked out by Swansea City in the third round of the FA Cup. In addition to this, the Premier League champions failed to make it to the finals of the Capital One Cup after being eliminated by Sunderland in the two-legged semi-finals.

However, that did not stop United fans on sharing their joy after Mata's signing was confirmed by the Old Trafford club and Chelsea.
