  • Catalans host Brendan Rodgers' side following 2-1 defeat to Alaves.
  • Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are expected to start along Neymar as Luis Enrique plans wholesale changes.
  • Jordi Masip, Denis Suarez, Aleix Vidal and Jeremy Mathieu have been left out.

Barcelona goalie Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been given the green light to return to action ahead of the Champions League opener against Celtic on Tuesday night (13 September). He features in Luis Enrique's 18-man squad alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, with third goalkeeper Jordi Masip missing out, as well as Denis Suarez, Aleix Vidal and Jeremy Mathieu.

Ter Stegen missed the 2-1 La Liga defeat to Alaves on Saturday after suffering a hamstring injury in preparation for the game. Jasper Cillessen made his debut between the posts following his summer arrival from Ajax Amsterdam, filling the gap left by the departure of Claudio Bravo to Manchester City.

Early reports in Spain suggested the Germany international would also miss the visit of Celtic, as well the upcoming La Liga trip to Leganes.

However, the 24-year-old surprisingly returned to training on Monday morning alongside his Barcelona teammates. At the time, Luis Enrique refused to confirm if his first-choice custodian would be ready to start against Celtic.

"Today he has took part in full training and tomorrow we will see the squad. But the fact that he has trained is a positive sign," the Barcelona boss said on Monday in a press conference.

The club has confirmed the good news for Barcelona fans, with Luis Enrique picking the German in his 18-man squad to face The Bhoys.

"The German goalkeeper has put his hamstring troubles behind him and is named in the list of 18 players for the first Champions League fixture of the season," Barcelona confirmed through a statement on its website.

Messi has also been included in the list amid suggestions the 'MSN' trident with Suarez and Neymar could play together from the start for the first time this season. The Argentine has struggled with groin issues over the past month.

Gomes, who was left out for the defeat to Alaves after he picked an injury on international duty, has also made the squad. However, Barcelona have confirmed that due to technical reasons Denis Suarez, Vidal, Mathieu and Masip are out.

Luis Enrique is expected to name his best possible XI against Celtic after a number of fringe players disappointed during the defeat to Alaves.

Barcelona's 18-man squad for Celtic clash:

Ter Stegen, Jasper Cillessen, Gerard Piqué, Ivan Rakitic, Sergio, Arda Turan, Andrés Iniesta, Luis Suárez, Messi, Neymar, Rafinha, Mascherano, Paco Alcácer, Jordi Alba, Digne, Sergi Roberto, André Gomes and Umtiti.
