Canadian singer/rapper Drake performed his latest single - Hold On, We're Going Home - at the 30th annual MTV Video Music Awards held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. He also performed Started From The Bottom. The singer was dressed in a black leather sleeveless vest and pants and teamed that with a gold chain,

Earlier, Drake's former flame, Rihanna, took to Twitter to gush over his single and even tweeted her favorite lyrics from the track.

"I got my eyes on you," she wrote, "Cuz you're a good girl and you know it!"

When a fan wrote more lines from the song, she replied, "My new fave record, period."

Meanwhile, before he took to the stage, the 26-year-old, who was nominated for four awards, said he was set to give an "explosive" performance.

"I get to do the new record, I'm doing 'Hold On, We're Going Home' into 'Started From the Bottom,' so [it's] really just an exciting performance to show the range and also show the diversity of music on the album," he told MTV News.

"We're blowing the stage up, I got things going off, I had to test with the fire marshall and it's gonna be good," he added, "I've been doing this for a while, pyro doesn't scare me. You know I'm ready, if you've ever been on stage with Lil Wayne, he likes explosions and they're loud you know, so I'm used to it."

Drake's Nothing Was The Same is set for release on 24 September.

Other performances of the night included, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Bruno Mars, Daft Punk and more.
