Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos' agent has confirmed Manchester United's interest in signing his client.
The Brazilian defender, who joined the Ligue 1 club in 2013 from AS Roma has struggled to nail down a regular place in the starting XI prompting suggestions of a departure from the club in search of regular game time. The former Corinthians defender has started in just 10 games this season thus far.
Manchester United had been linked to the defender during the summer and recent reports suggest that they have rekindled their interest in signing the Brazilian international during the ongoing January transfer window.
However, his agent Giuliano Bertolucci has revealed that the Old Trafford outfit are one of many clubs interested in signing his client, and that they will take stock of his situation during the summer, with regards to staying or leaving the French champions.
"Last summer, PSG's president (Nasser Al-Khelaifi) declared that Marquinhos was unsellable," Bertolucci said, as quoted by the Mirror.
"We will see what their position is this summer. Many clubs are interested in the player. Manchester United are one of them, this is true."
The former Roma player's agent has reiterated his client's desire to play as much as possible rather than sitting on the bench and believes that he is as good as first-choice pairing David Luiz and Thiago Silva.
Bertolucci also added that Marquinhos is willing to play in any position, whether it be right-back or as a defensive midfielder. The defender has already been deployed as the former a few times during the course of the season.
"He (Marquinhos) wants to become the best defender in the world. He is not a lesser player compared with Thiago Silva or David Luiz."
"He respects the decisions of his coach, but just wants to play and spend as little time as possible on the bench. Marquinhos is prepared to play at right-back and even in defensive midfield if he has to," the Brazilian defender's agent concluded.
