Reading East MP Rob Wilson surprised  followers after accidentally tweeting a link to an X-rated porn site (YouTube)

A Tory MP has stunned his Twitter by accidentally sharing a link to a porn site.

Reading East MP Rob Wilson had intended to share a link to an article about a BBC interview with Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith but unintentionally directed his followers to the site which offered users the chance to "find sex partners near you".

It was not until some of 4,000 followers pointed out that he had sent them to a site populated with images of scantily clad women that he realised his gaffe.

"Copy the url from the wrong window by any chance?" one follower tweeted.

Another wrote: "Dodgy link there Rob"

Wilson meant to post a link to the political blog order-order.com. but he missed a number from the shortened link, sending followers instead to SexyDigg.

He removed the link and blamed Conservative campaign headquarters for giving him the wrong information.

"CCHQ has apologised and I regard the matter as closed," he said.

A Tory source told the Metro: "He was sent a link. It appears there was a technical glitch."
