The Queen has photobombed a selfie taken by two players from the Australian women's hockey team on the first day of the Commonwealth Games.
Australian hockey player Jayde Taylor who had been among a group introduced to the Queen at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre on Thursday, took the photo with a team mate to celebrate only to discover afterwards that the Queen appears in the background smiling and looking directly at the camera.
Photobombing is a phenomenon which has taken off in the age of social media. It sees people (and animals) accidentally or purposely putting themselves into the view of a photograph, often in order to play a practical joke on the photographer or the subjects.
When she discovered the world-first photobomb, Taylor shared the news on Twitter:
Ahhh The Queen photo-bombed our selfie!! ? ? #royalty #sheevensmiled #amazing #Glasgow2014 @Hockeyroos @AusComGames pic.twitter.com/ZMtHYFUqHk
